Down on the Farm: 05-22-2010

AAA Nashville Sounds edged the Fresno Grizzlies 2-1:

Nothing at all to see here, unless you are interested in how Matt Kinney is doing.

AA Reading Philies edged the Richmond Flying Squirrels 4-3:

Darren Ford- 1 for 3, BB. BA= .252.
Brandon Crawford- 1 for 4, 3B. BA= .252.
Conor Gillaspie- 2 for 4. BA= .231.
Nick Noonan- 1 for 3, BB. BA= .243.

The hitting prospects at Richmond have been keeping their heads above water, but nobody has really caught fire yet.

HIgh A San Jose Giants edged the Modesto Nuts 3-2:

Brandon Belt- 1 for 2, 2B, 2 BB. BA= .394.
Charlie Culberson- 1 for 3, HR(5), BB. BA= .275.
Eric Surkamp- 6 IP, 5 H, 2 R, 2 BB, 6 K's. ERA= 2.16.
David Quinowski- 2 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 4 K's. ERA= 3.44.
Jason Stoffel- 1 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 2 K's, Save(8). ERA= 5.40.

Belt continues to toy with Cal League pitchers and not swing at any garbage. Culberson has gotten really hot in the last 10 games. Solid outing for Surkamp and Stoffel seems to have gotten back on track after a couple of awful appearances.

Low A Augusta Greenjackets outlasted the Greenville Drive 8-6 in 15 innings:

Evan Crawford- 2 for 5, 3B, 3 BB, SB(8). BA= .270.
Chris Dominguez- 3 for 6, 3B. BA= .272.
Tommy Joseph- 2 for 6, HBP. BA= .216
Hector Sanchez- 3 for 7, 2 2B. BA= .250.
Brian Salsbury- 7.1 IP, 7 H, 4 R, 0 BB, 6 K's. ERA= 3.62.

Evan Crawford is hot. This extra-inning affair was a lot kinder to Dominguez and Joseph who went a combined 0 for 16 in the 18 inning 1-0 game. Good to see Hector Sanchez with multiple hits. Augusta pitchers combined for 19 K's in the 15 IP, The bullpen pitched shutout ball for 7 innings from the 8'th inning on.

  2. I'm sure the Giants are looking hard at any potential bullpen help right now.
