Down on the Farm: 05-07-2010

AAA Fresno Grizzlies defeated the Salt Lake City Bees 3-2:

Brock Bond- 3 for 5, SB(2). BA= .336.
Brett Pill- 2 for 3, 2B, HR(3), BB. BA= .311.
Tyler Graham- 2 for 4, 2B, SB(2). BA= .556.
Madison Bumgarner- 5 IP, 3 H, 2 R, 2 BB, 3 K's. ERA= 4.97.
Henry Sosa- 3 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 2 BB, 2 K's. ERA= 1.06.

Brett Pill is hot, hitting .419 over his last 10 games. His OPS is up to .856. Graham only has a handful of AB's, but certainly seems to have plus speed. Not a spectacular start for Bum, but his ERA continues to come down. Remember this is the PCL. You might want to go back an look up Matt Cain's AAA stat line for comparison. I like that Sosa is getting multiple inning stints in.

AA Richmond Flying Squirrels defeated the Harrisburg Senators 5-3:

Thomas Neal- 2 for 5, SB(2). BA= .245.
Conor Gillaspie- 1 for 4, HR(4). BA= .198.
Daryl Maday- 5 IP, 7 H, 3 R, 1 BB, 2 K's. ERA= 1.78.

Like the power from Conor Gillaspie. Now he needs to get his BA back up into respectable territory.

High A High Desert Mavericks beat the San Jose Giants 5-2:

Brandon Belt- 2 for 3, 2B, BB, SB(8). BA= .402.
Johnny Monell- 2 for 4, HR(3), SB(2). BA= .237.
Kyle Nicholson- 7 IP, 7 H, 4 R, 3 ER, 1 BB, 5 K's, GO/AO= 10/5.

A QS for Nicholson. The peripherals look better than the runs given up. Belt continues to be a one man highlight line for the little Giants.

Low A Hagerstown Suns edged the Augusta Greenjackets 5-4:

Luke Anders- 2 for 4, 2B, HR(6). BA= .287.
Nick Liles- 2 for 3. BA= .323.
Chris Heston- 6 IP, 9 H, 5 R, 2 ER, 3 BB, 3 K's. ERA= 4.80.
Jose Casilla- 3 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 2 K's. ERA= 1.47.

Anders continues his steady hitting. Even though Heston only gave up 2 ER, he had a poor WHIP in this game. Love the multiple innings for Casilla.

  2. Bacci,

I like Pill too. I just wonder if his bat quite plays at the MLB level. He's getting a bit long in the tooth for a prospect and he only put it together last year in AA. I would be nice to have a RH bat to platoon with Huff or whatever other dumpster dive the Giants throw out at there at 1B.
