JIm Callis has a new Mock draft up from yesterday on BA. He has the Giants taking HS 3B NIck Castellanos at #24. This would be a great pick if the Giants drafted him and got him signed. He reportedly wants a ton of $$$ and that may be why he would fall to the Giants. The Giants have shown that they intend to sign whoever they draft. Callis' backup choice in the discussion is HS RHP Stetson Allie which would be a fine pick too.
BA and Jim Callis know what they are talking about and we're getting close enough to the draft that we can start taking specific picks in their mock drafts seriously. What has me excited is that almost every recent mock draft has the Giants taking a very good player. This is a great year to be drafting in the bottom third. The talent at the very top may be only 1 or two players deep, but the second tier of talent extends way down the board well into the second round or even beyond IMO.

I'm relatively new to seeing all this info on drafting, but I've been compiling the mock drafts that I've seen around for this year, and it does seem like what you say. Each expert has a different take on the draft after the first 3-7 players or so, so I've been seeing a lot of different names pop up as possible Giants picks, Castellanos, Wilson, Brown, a couple of pitchers whose names escape me right now. I remember these because they are position players, and from what I've read about each of them, they have their pluses and minuses, but that is to be expected this deep into the draft. Hopefully the Giants will be aggressive as you say and sign one of these players who fall due to signability issues, both Castellanos and Wilson look like they are good prospects who might fall to us (though I've seen plenty of drafts where Wilson is selected by Toronto with the 11th pick, and Castellanos picked in the Top 10-15 picks).
