Down on the Farm: 05-25-2010

AAA The Memphis Redbirds defeated the Fresno Grizzlies 4-1:

Really nothing to see here. Ben Copeland accounted for the only run with a solo HR.

AA Binghampton Mets trounced the Richmond Flying Squirrels 10-0:

Andy Sisco- 3 IP, 2 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 5 K's. ERA= 4.35. A dominant outing for the big guy.

High A The Cal League was idle.

Low A Rome Braves topped the Augusta Greenjackets 8-4:

Luke Anders- 1 for 3, HR(7), BB. BA= .285.
Tommy Joseph- 2 for 4. BA= .212.

Not much to comment on here as it was a quiet night down on the farm.

  1. As per our earlier discussion on what has helped Bumgarner's groundball to flyball ratio. This article should be interesting. Here is a quote that is particularly relevant:

  2. Strange, the quote I put didn't show up. Probably because I wrapped it in carrot-brackets, or whatever these '<' things are called. Anyways this was the quote I had singled out:

    -------------------
Decker said Fresno pitching coach Pat Rice did more than alter Bumgarner's release point to a location more in front of his body. He also has tinkered with Bumgarner's mental approach.

"Pat told him, 'We're going to rename your breaking ball and call it a curveball,' " Decker said. "Then all of the sudden Madison starts creating some real depth to his breaking ball that he never had before. Then Pat asked him to think of his slider as a cutter, and suddenly Madison put a real sharp break to it. When Madison thinks that way, his body makes the mechanical adjustments."

  3. Nothing of interest in the Fresno game? Bags said Posey started at first. Pretty big note, if you ask me...

(this isn't intended as snarky as it sounds)

  4. Posey has started at first quite a bit. Nothing new there.

  5. Today will be the first day Posey is starting at first base two games in a row. As Baggs pointed out, this is even more proof that his call-up is imminent.

  6. Baggs isn't always right. I'll believe it when I see it, although I think after June 1, the chances of him being a "super two" go way down. Despite Giants denials, I'm pretty sure that is part of the equation with Buster. Sabes learned his lesson with Timmy.

  7. Have no doubt about he'll be up soon. And yes, after June 1st sounds about right.

  8. Looks like I was right :)

Baggs, an unconfirmed, but very good source tells him that Posey will be in SF tomorrow:

    Go Buster! Go Giants!

  9. Like I said, I hope fans, and the organization don't put the whole weight of the Giants offense on Buster's shoulder's. He's going to be a great player, and if it's time, that's great, but he's going to go through his adjustments too.
