Game Wrap 6/30/2026: D'Backs 8 Giants 2

Landen Roupp had a disaster start and solo HR's by Luis Arraez and Rafael Devers were too little, too late.  Key Lines:

Luis Arraez 2B/3B- 3 for 4, 3B, HR(4).  BA= .331.  Arraez fell a double short of a cycle.  Arraez now trails Yandy Diaz of the Rays by .003 for MLB batting average leadership and former Giants Churn casualty Otto Lopez by .001 for the lead in the NL batting championship race.

Rafael Devers 1B- 1 for 2, HR(15), 2 BB.  BA= .242.  Devers is close to being on track for a 30 HR season.

The rest of the Giants lineup went a combined 0 for 24.  Matt Chapman pulled up lame after a play in the field.  He batted in the 7'th inning after a conference with the training staff in the dugout but pulled up lame again coming out of the batter's box on a pop up.  He came out with Arraez moving over to cover 3B and Jonah Cox taking over at 2B.  Cox then made a really good play on a ball that might have been out of Arraez' reach.

After the game it came out that Chapman has been dealing with an abdominal issue all season.  I wonder at what point in an increasingly lost season you might want to put a guy like Chapman on the IL and try to get him healed up before he pulls up lame like that and why on Earth would you let him bat after pulling up on an infield play?  Just another in a long and growing list of very questionable management decisions on multiple levels in an organization that looks like a ship out on the ocean that's lost it's power.

Landen Roupp RHP- 2.2 IP, 5 H, 6 R, 6 BB, 4 K's.  ERA= 4.55.  Roupp was coming off two Quality Starts so this disaster might not be part of a trend but it was also his 3'rd disaster start of the month which saw him go 0 for 3 with a 7.14 ERA.

Adrian Houser RHP- 5.1 IP, 5 H, 2 R, 1 BB, 1 K.  ERA= 5.38.  Houser gave up 2 ER in 8 IP over his last two appearances, both in multi-inning relief roles.

Trevor McDonald RHP tries to avoid a sweep this evening facing Zac Gallen RHP who comes in with a 6.15 ERA but always seems to pitch the Giants tough.
