Down on the Farm: 7/28/2012

AAA  Colorado Springs Skysox blasted the Fresno Grizzlies 10-1:

Conor Gllaspie(3B)- 2 for 3.   BA= .302.
Dan Runzler(LHP)- 1 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 3 K's. ERA= 5.27.

I could see these two being packaged in a deadline trade.

AA  Richmond Flying Squirrels defeated the Erie Seawolves 6-3:

Gary Brown(CF)- 3 for 3, 2B.  BA= .293.
Juan Perez(RF)- 2 for 4, HR(8).  BA= .284.
Justin Fitzgerald(RHP)- 6 IP, 6 H, 3 R, 1 ER, 2 BB, 3 K's, GO/AO= 9/1.  ERA= 3.74.
Brett Bochy(RHP)- 1 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 2 K's, Save(13).  ERA= 1.76.

High A Modesto Nuts topped the San Jose Giants 5-1:

Duvall hit a HR(19).  Nothing else to see here.

Low A  Augusta Greenjackets beat the Hickory Crawdads 6-3:

Jesus Galindo(CF)- 2 for 4, BB, SB(31).  BA= .227.
Brett Krill(LF)- 3 for 3, BB, SB(4). BA= .277.
Adalberto Mejia(LHP)- 7 IP, 11 H, 3 R, 1 ER, 0 BB, 9 K's.  ERA= 5.01.
Kyle Vazquez(RHP)- 1 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 1 K, Save(5).  ERA= 4.32.

Mejia was hittable but gotta love the K/BB.

Short Season  Eugene Emeralds out hit the Salem-Keizer Volcanoes 11-6:

Kentrell Hill(LF)- 2 for 4, BB.  BA= .299.
Joseph Rapp(1B)- 3 for 4, 2B, BB.  BA= .288.
Mac Williamson(RF)- 2 for 5, 2 2B.  BA= .238.
Mitch Delfino(3B)- 3 for 4, 2B, BB.  BA= .353.

Rookie AZL  Rangers edged the Giants 3-2:

Zach Edgington(LHP)- 3 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 5 K's.  ERA= 1.64.
Brandon Allen(RHP)- 3 IP, 2 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 2 K's.  ERA= 7.33.

Edgington is out of UCSB.  He has 14 K's against 0 BB, in 11 IP.  Allen's results this appearance were better than they have been of late.

DSL  Giants smacked the Nationals 9-3:

Rando Moreno(SS)- 2 for 5, 2B.  BA= .246.
Nicol Parra(LF-CF)- 0 for 1, 3 BB, 2 SB(18).  BA= .248.
Keury Mella(RHP)- 5 IP, 6 H, 2 R, 1 BB, 5 K's.  ERA= 2.32.
Eber Guzman(RHP)- 3 IP, 3 H, 1 R, 0 BB, 6 K's.  ERA= 4.75.

Parra is trying to walk and run off the island.

  1. Mariners are going hard to get Belt according to Dave Cameron. Would a Belt for Paxton trade make sense?

    1. Hmm....don't know. Does Cameron say what the Mariners are offering? Giants are rumored to be wanting Brandon League, but I wouldn't give up on Brandon Belt just for League.

That's the link. Take it as you will. Cain, Bumgarner, Stratton, Paxton, Crick... 2015 rotation. Also Blackburn and Agosta as depth.
Don't know about you but that is true depth.

    1. It strikes me as kind of an odd deadline trade. Maybe more of the type you might see in the offseason. Maybe the Giants think Paxton can help in the bullpen this year plus give them long term upside as a future starter?

  3. I'd call up Gillaspie and stick him at 1B. He won't hit for power but he would hit better than our current options.

    1. I think as soon as The Hector gets back, which should be on Thursday, you put him behind the plate and put Posey at 1B. That's their best lineup short of trading for a 1B.
