Down on the Farm: 7/27/2012

AAA  Las Vegas 51's defeated the Fresno Grizzlies 8-5:

Nick Noonan(SS)- 2 for 5, 2B.  BA= .307.
Brett Pill(1B)- 1 for 4, HR(8).  BA= .294.
Ryan Lollis(CF)- 1 for 3, HR(2), BB.  BA= .333.
Clayton Tanner(LHP)- 3 IP, 9 H, 6 R, 2 BB, 2 K's.  ERA= 7.80.
Boof Bonser(RHP)- 3 IP, 4 H, 2 R, 2 BB, 2 K's.  ERA= 8.44.

Noonan's success probably made Charlie Culberson expendable.  Lollis has quietly had a very nice season.  The Tanner and Bonser reclamation projects are sputtering.

AA  Erie Seawolves beat the Richmond Flying Squirrels 5-2:

Juan Perez(RF)- 2 for 4, BB.  BA= .282.
Johnny Monell(C)- 2 for 4, 2B.  BA= .224.
Mike Kickham(LHP)- 6 IP, 8 H, 5 R, 2 BB, 4 K's.  ERA= 2.96.

High A  Modesto Nuts topped the San Jose Giants 8-6:

Carter Jurica(2B)- 3 for 5.  BA= .288.
Joe Panik(SS)- 3 for 5.  BA= .271.
Adam Duvall(3B)- 2 for 5.  BA= .247.
Alex Burg(1B)- 2 for 5.  BA= .270.

Panik is hitting .395 over his last 10 games.  Jurica is hitting .356 over his last 10.  Ricky is in a tough slump.

Low A  Augusta Greenjackets edged the Hickory Crawdads 3-2:

Joe Staley(C)- 1 for 2, 2 BB.  BA= .252.
Bryce Bandilla(LHP)- 6 IP, 3 H, 2 R, 2 BB, 2 K's.  ERA= 1.98.
Derek Law(RHP)- 2 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 4 K's.  ERA= 2.40.
Cody Hall(RHP)- 1 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 1 K, Save(20).  ERA= 1.24.

Like what we've seen from all 3 of these pitchers this year.

Short Season  Salem-Keizer Volcanoes blasted the Eugene Emeralds 14-6:

Matthew Duffy(SS)- 2 for 6.  BA= .250.
Mitch Delfino(3B)- 3 for 5, 2B.  BA= .319.
Ryan Jones(2B)- 3 for 5, 2B.  BA= .250.
Joan Gregorio(RHP)- 5 IP, 7 H, 4 R, 0 BB, 1 K.  ERA= 6.02

Gregorio gave up all his runs in his final inning of work.

Rookie AZL  Giants doubled up the Angels 8-4:

Tyler Hollick(CF)- 3 for 5, 2B, SB(4), Assist(home).  BA= .400.
John Polonius(SS)- 2 for 5, SB(3). BA= .432.
Jonathan Jones(1B)- 2 for 5, 2B, HR(3).  BA= .279.
Andrew Leenhouts(LHP)- 4 IP, 4 H, 1 R, 1 BB, 3 K's. ERA= 4.50.
Eduardo Encinosa(RHP)- 2 IP, 2 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 2 K's.  ERA= 3.00.

Hollick, Polonius and Jones doing good things in Arizona.

DSL  Nationals pounded the Giants 12-7:

Nicol Parra(CF)- 2 for 4, BB.  BA= .250.
Rando Moreno(SS)- 2 for 4, 2B.  BA= .241.
Angel Villalona(1B)- 2 for 3, 2B, HR(6), SF.  BA= .306.

    1. 2B, SS, 3B, all of the above, none of the above. Take your pick.

  2. What's going on with Angel Villalona? Is he still on the restricted list since he couldn't get his visa? Will the Giants lose him in the rule V this off-season if they don't place him on the 40 man? Is he still in the Giants plans?

    1. Angel Villalona is not on the Restricted list or he would not be playing in games. He is already on the 40 man roster. I assume he still cannot get a Visa to come to the States.

    3. Not sure what that means. He's playing in games in the DSL. I wasn't aware you could play in games, even in the minors if you were on the Restricted list. Maybe you can and this gives the Giants a break on the 40 man? Don't know.

  3. Bye Culbie, we hardly knew ya'

Good trade for the Giants as Culbie was going to get passed up by Noonan and others.

Hopefully Scrutie brings his vet AB grit that has so annoyed us in the past.

    Please beat the Bums today!
