Osich was pretty emphatic in a recent interview that he is more comfortable pitching out of the pen.  Jurica has multiple hits in 4 of his last 5 games.

Low A West Virginia Power vs Augusta Greenjackets game was postponed.

Short Season  Everett Aquasox pounded the Salem-Keizer Volcanoes 11-2:

Rookie AZL  Giants crushed the Angels 9-0:

Zach Edgington(RHP)- 2 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 2 K's.  ERA= 0.00.

Travious Relaford is killing it!  As near as I can tell, John Polonius was signed as an undrafted FA on July 5.  He's originally from Curacao and was drafted in round 30 out of JC ball last year by Cleveland.  He played this year for West Virginia and hit .305.  From pics I found, looks terrific in a uniform!

DSL  Giants edged the Phillies 4-3:

Nicol Parra(LF)- 2 for 4, BB.  BA= .282.
Kleiber Rivas(DH)- 1 for 2, 2 BB, SB(1).  BA= .150.
Juan Nova(RHP)- 6 IP, 2 H, 2 R, 1 ER, 2 BB, 5 K's.  ERA= 1.31.
Luis Pino(RHP, 17 yo)- 2 IP, 1 H, 1 R, 0 ER, 2 BB, 2 K's.  ERA= 0.00.

Pino is out of Mexico and makes his pro debut.

  1. I'm excited for Travious, and this undrafted FA Polonius looks interesting as well. Good stuff.

  2. The fact that Polonious started at shortstop yesterday over Travious Relaford tells you that the Giants are high on his defense, as we know that Relaford has the tools to play good defense at shortstop. I found a Spanish language article about Luis Pino that after going through Google Translate said (refering to his fastball) "averages in the 93 miles per hour".

    1. Hey, strong work on Pino. Good to know!

From the little bit I could glean from looking up Polonious, yes, he seems to have a reputatation of being an excellent defensive SS.
