Down on the Farm: 06-10-2010

AAA Fresno Grizzlies defeated the Tacoma Rainiers 9-5:

Brock Bond- 2 for 4, 2 BB. BA= .297
Tyler Graham- 2 for 5, 3B, SF. BA= .407.
John Bowker- 2 for 5, 2B. BA= .429.
Eugenio Velez- 3 for 5. BA= .322.
Henry Sosa- 5 IP, 3 H, 1 R, 0 BB, 4 K's. ERA= 2.89.

Most of Fresno's lineup has MLB experience. Bond continues to be an OBP machine. Nice to see Sosa get the start. It was Joe Martinez' turn, but it looks like he's getting the call to SF to replace Wellemeyer.

New Britain Rock Cats edged the Richmond Flying Squirrels 6-5:

Darren Ford- 3 for 4, 3B, HR(3), BB. BA= .236.
Clayton Tanner- 6 IP, 6 H, 4 R, 3 BB, 2 K's. ERA= 3.72.
Andy Sisco- 0.1 IP, 3 H, 1 R, 0 BB, 0 K's. ERA= 5.13.

Great game by Ford. Now he needs to have a few more of these. Losing pitcher Sisco stands 6'10" while winner Ludovicus Van Mil stands 7'1". Are these two the tallest winning/losing pitchers in one game in history? I'm guessing they are!

High A Modesto Nuts edged the San Jose Giants 5-4:

Emmanuel Burriss- 2 for 3, SB(1). BA= .333. Replaced after 3 AB's by Adrianza.
Brandon Belt- 2 for 3, 2B, 2 BB. BA= .380 OBP= .490. SLG%= .600.
Wendell Fairley- 1 for 2, 2 BB. BA= .265. OBP= .360.
Eric Surkamp- 7 IP, 6 H, 3 R, 2 ER, 1 BB, 2 K's. ERA= 3.41.

Could it be that the Giants are emphasizing OBP in the organization?

Low A Augusta Greenjackets pounded the Hickory Crawdads 9-3:

Nick Liles- 3 for 4, BB, SB(12). BA= .313.
Ryan Lollis- 2 for 4, 2B, BB. BA= .294.
Dan Cook- 3 for 4, 2 2B. BA= .265.
Chris Gloor- 2.1 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 2 BB, 3 K's. ERA= 2.93.

The Greenjackets drew 5 BB's in the game. Liles is looking like a potential leadoff batter, but he seems to only play corner OF.

DSL Giants topped the Yankees 6-5:

Christian Paulino- 2 for 4, HR(2), BB, SB(5). BA= .278.
Leonardo Fuentes- 2 for 3, 2B, BB. BA= .241.

Paulino looks like a guy who can do it all. LIsted as a SS, he has played 3B. He played 2B tonight.
