AAA Fresno Grizzlies squeaked by the Sacramento River Cats 6-5:
Steve Holm- 1 for 3, HR(4). BA= .227.
Madison Bumgarner- 6.1 IP, 9 H, 5 R, 1 BB, 4 K's. ERA= 3.13.
Brandon Medders- 1.2 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 1 K. ERA= 4.91.
Steve Edlefsen- 1 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 2 K's, Save(4). ERA= 1.23.
Holm drove in 4 of the Giants 6 runs with a grand salami. Bumgarner gave up all of his runs in the 6'th inning, but pitched into the 7'th. Curious! Baby steps for Medders.
AA The entire Eastern League was idle tonight.
High A Modesto Nuts outslugged the San Jose Giants 12-6:
Juan Perez- 2 for 5, HR(7). BA= .332.
Jose Flores- 1 for 5, HR(2). BA= .380.
James Simmons- 3 for 3, BB. BA= .244.
Jose Medina- 2 for 4, 2 HR(2). BA= .182.
Kyle Nicholson- 5.1 IP, 9 H, 8 R, 6 ER, 1 BB, 3 K's. ERA= 7.26.
Medina looked like a good hitter for the DSL Giants a couple of seasons ago. Then he disappeared. His BA would suggest this is a fluke. Stay posted to Down on the Farm! I am planning to go to the Wednesday night game up in High Desert next week. I might no bother if Nicholson is scheduled to pitch!
Augusta Greenjackets defeated the Greenville Drive 7-2:
Hector Sanchez- 3 for 4, 2B. BA= .263.
Juan Martinez- 2 for 3, 2B. BA= .230.
Evan Crawford- 2 for 3, 3B(9), S. BA= .263.
Nick Liles- 1 for 3, 2 SF. BA= .304.
Brian Salsbury- 7 IP, 5 H, 1 R, 0 BB, 3 K's. ERA= 3.47.
Sanchez' line is .323/.417/.484 over his last 10 games. Crawford is hitting .343 over his last 10 with 4 triples and a SLG% of .629! Crawford has been very streaky this year. Let's see if he can sustain this one.
DSL Giants beat the Cubs2 9-3:
Christian Paulino(18 yo)- 1 for 3, SF, HBP, 2 SB(3). BA= .273.
Leonardo Fuentes(17 yo)- 1 for 4, 2B. BA= .263.
Jose Lopez(18 yo)- 3 for 4, 2B, SB(2). BA= .313.
Fernando Pujadas(18 yo)- 1 for 4, HR(1). BA= .286.
Joan Gregorio(18 yo)- 5 IP, 7 H, 3 R, 2 ER, 1 BB, 3 K's. ERA= 2.89.
Fuentes is a bonus baby. Gregorio is 6'7". He's pitched 9.1 IP, with 3 BB's and 7 K's so far.

ReplyDeleteI was hoping that Nicholson was going to be a surprising find for the Giants after his amazing performance at the end of 2008.
ReplyDeleteAlas...
I was wondering, Last year the Giants were pretty quiet on the international front (from what I remember). Were the G's signing anyone under the radar last year in retrospect? Did they sign any players your looking forwards to following? Who has the stuff to make it to the bigs? Are most of the players at DSL from 2 years ago?
I heard that MadBum had a mental melt-down in this game. Have you heard anything further about it? (I have not scene the vid, but will check it out when I get home from work this evening)
ReplyDeletevid of MadBum getting tossed

The two International signees who got mid-range money last summer were Leonardo Fuentes who is playing every day for the DSL Giants. The other is RHP Marvin Barrios, who has yet to appear in a game. Those would be the two names most likely to advance to the States next year and turn into top 20 Giants prospects.
ReplyDeleteI just heard that MadBum took exception to a couple of umps calls and kind of lost it and got tossed. I don't see it as any big deal at all. What ballplayer has never lost it over some bad calls by the umps?
