This will be short as the Giants offense failed to make a showing today. Matt Cain pitched like an ace for 7.2 innings, got no run support and then gave up a 2 out walk followed by a HR to Aaron Hill and that was the ballgame. Key lines:
Matt Cain- 7.2 IP, 6 H, 3 R, 2 BB, 3 K's. Cainer deserved so much better! What a disheartening loss!
San Diego lost to the Orioles while the Dodgers were losing again to the BoSox so the Giants remain 1.5 games behind and in 3'rd place in the NL West. Colorado edged Milwaukee 8-7 to move to 3 games behind. Arizona won also to get to 12.5 games off the pace.
Jonathan Sanchez tries to be the stopper in game 3 vs Shaum Marcum, a good pitcher without a lot of velocity. He uses guile and command to keep hitters off balance, type of pitcher that tends to give the Giants fits. Come to think of it, just about any kind of pitcher tends to give the Giants fits!
