Matt Cain showed one more time why he probably should be considered the Giants ace right now. What makes it all the more impressive is that Cain probably did it without his best stuff, and made it look so easy! Key lines:
Juan Uribe- 1 for 5, HR(9). BA= .277. For awhile it looked like Cain was going to have to make Uribe's solo HR stand up. As it turned out, he could have!
Pat Burrell- 2 for 4, 2B. BA= .229. Nate Schierholtz pinch ran after the second hit and scored the first insurance run.
Buster Posey- 1 for 3, BB. BA= .444. Buster scored the second go-ahead run.
Bengie Molina- 1 for 4, BA= .248. Bengie batted 8'th and Rowand sat tonight.
Matt Cain- 2 for 4. Cainer drove in the second go ahead run!
Matt Cain- 9 IP, 7 H, 0 R, 2 BB, 5 K's. ERA= 2.11. The line speaks for itself.
The win allowed the Giants to keep pace with the Dodgers who moved into first place in the NL West with a 1-0 win over the Cards while the Padres lost to the Mets 2-1 in extra innings. The Giants are 2 games behind the Dodgers and 1.5 games behind the Padres. Colorado also won while Arizona lost to the Braves 7-5.
Sanchez tries to extend the winning streak tomorrow vs Aaron Harang.
