AAA Reno Aces out hit the Fresno Grizzlies 9-6:
Matt Downs- 2 for 5, 2B. BA= .300.
Emmanuel Burriss- 2 for 4, 2B. BA= .308.
Andrew Romo- 1.1 IP, 2 H, 0 R, 2 BB, 0 K's. ERA= 0.00.
Joe Paterson- 2 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 1 K. ERA= 2.66.
Could Burriss be enough insurance at SS if the Giants could find a trade partner for Rent? Not that it's ever going to happen! How long before we have two Romo's in the bullpen in SF?
AA Altoona Curve baffled the Richmond Flying Squirrels 7-2:
Nothing to see here. Timpner and Stromsmoe were the only Squirrels with more than 1 hit. They had 2 each. I guess Daryl Maday didn't pitch all that bad: 6 IP, 5 H, 3 R, 2 ER, 3 BB, 4 K's. ERA= 2.09.
High A Lake Elsinore Storm crushed the San Jose Giants 10-0:
Brandon Belt- 1 for 4, 2B. BA= .391.
Charlie Culberson- 2 for 4, SB(11). BA= .308.
Justin Fitzgerald- 5 IP, 4 H, 3 R, 4 BB, 2 K's. ERA= 3.18.
Brian Anderson- 1.1 IP, 3 H, 4 R, 2 BB, 1 K. ERA= 5.09.
Jason Stoffel- 1 IP, 4 H, 3 R, 2 BB, 2 K's. ERA= 6.29.
I attended this game and will post some scouting reports in a separate post.
Low A Augusta Greenjackets defeated the Savannah Sand Gnats 7-1:
Nick Liles- 3 for 4. BA= .306.
Luke Anders- 3 for 4. BA= .300.
Chris Dominguez- 2 for 3, BB. BA= .269.
Dan Cook- 2 for 4, 2B. BA= .275.
Ryan Cavan- 2 for 4, HR(3). BA= .258.
Jorge Bucardo- 6 IP, 9 H, 1 R, 1 BB, 2 K's. ERA= 1.57.
Jose Casilla- 1 IP, 0 H, 0 BB, 2 K's. ERA= 1.30.
Lots of good stuff here. Dominguez had been in a pretty bad slump which got him named in BA's "Not So Hot" list on their weekly Hot Sheet.
Short Season Everett Aquasox trounced the Salem-Keizer Volcanoes 11-3:
Alex Burg- 2 for 4, HR(1). BA= .500.
Rafael Rodriguez- 1 for 4, 3B. BA= .250.
Taylor Rogers- 4.1 IP, 6 H, 6 R, 5 ER, 1 BB, 3 K's. ERA= 10.38.
Kaohi Downing- 1 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 3 K's. ERA= 0.00.
Rough start for most of the kids, especially Lofton and Jurica who went a combined 0 for 8 at the top of the order. Rogers didn't impress last season, so not sure why he's the lead starter here. Downing was the final round draft pick last year, but reportedly has a heater that gets to 94 MPH.
DSL Yankees edged the Giants 2-1:
Leonardo Fuentes- 2 for 3, BB. BA= .327.
Joan Gregorio- 5 IP, 4 H, 1 R, 0 ER, 0 BB, 4 K's. ERA= 1.27.
I'm really liking what I'm seeing in the boxscores from Fuentes and Gregorio. 6'7" pitchers with good looking lines get me excited!
