Andrew Romo- 1.1 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 2 BB, 0 K. ERA= 0.00.

Rent starts his rehab assignment. Take your time, Rent! Sergio Romo's bro pitching in AAA!

AA Richmond Flying Squirrels topped the Reading Phillies 7-2:

Michael Ambort- 2 for 4, 2B. BA= .231.
Conor Gillaspie- 2 for 4. BA= .238.
Tyler LaTorre- 2 for 4, HR(1). BA= .259.
David Mixon- 7 IP, 8 H, 2 R, 2 BB, 1 K. ERA= 3.08.

Not too much to comment here beyond the stat lines.

High A San Jose Giants battered the High Desert Mavericks 10-3:

Ehire Adrianza- 2 for 4, HR(1), BB. BA= .256.
Brandon Belt- 2 for 4, 2B, BB. BA= .384.
Charlie Culberson- 2 for 5, 2B, SB(10). BA= .300.
Drew Biery- 2 for 3, BB, HBP. BA= .268.
Wendell Fairley- 2 for 5, 2B. BA= .281.

Lots of nice looking lines tonight. Particularly nice to see the young guys, Culberson and Fairley coming along nicely. Eddy Martinez-Esteve was apparently picked up by the Mariners organization and went 1 for 4, BB for the Mavs tonight.

Low A Augusta Greenjackets beat the Charleston River Dogs:

Evan Crawford- 1 for 4, HR(2), BB, SB(11). BA= .260.
Ryan Cavan- 1 for 3, 2B, 2 BB. BA= .261.
Nick Liles- 2 for 5, 2B. BA= .307.
Ryan Lollis- 3 for 5, 2B, 3B. BA= .290.
Brian Irving- 5 IP, 3 H, 1 R, 1 BB, 5 K's. ERA= 3.35.
Ryan Verdugo- 2 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 5 K's. ERA= 2.55.

Second start of the season for Irving. Dominant appearance for Verdugo.

DSL Orioles topped the Giants 4-2:

Luis Angeles- 6 IP, 0 H, 4 R, 2 ER, 3 BB, 5 K's. ERA= 3.00. Strange line with no-hit ball for 6 innings with the L and 2 ER allowed in addition to the 2 unearned. 19 yo small LHP. Likely not a significant prospect.

  1. Doc,

    Great update as always.

Have you had opportunity to watch SJ play yet? Baggs has a blurb on his blog today about Belt's defense and he mentions that it is considered the best in the organization at 1B. In an organization that has Pill and Ishikawa, that is a HUGE statement. Can you confirm his prowess at first?

  2. Too bad Andrew doesn't pitch like Sergio.

And how did they get such different names!

  3. I haven't seen SJ play yet. I'm planning to catch at least one game in High Desert or Lake Elsinore this week.
