After giving up a first inning run, Tim Lincecum settled down and got his mojo back and the Giants offense continued to purr along as the Giants took a first step toward avenging their sweep at the hands of the A's back in Oakland a couple of weeks ago. Key lines:
Andres Torres- 0 for 2, 2 BB. OBP= .392!
Freddy Sanchez- 2 for 4. BA= .337. The top of the order was doing their job!
Juan Uribe- 2 for 3, BB. BA= .285. Uribe was batting cleanup last night. I like it!
Pat Burrell- 1 for 3, HR(3). They got him for the dingers. Since joining the Giants, Burrell is hitting .333, 6 for 18 with 2 BB's.
Bengie Molina- 2 for 4, HR(3). BA= .261. Bengie is 5 for 12 over his last 3 games with 4 RBI's.
Tim Lincecum- 8 IP, 7 H, 2 R, 1 BB, 7 K's. ERA= 3.12. Timmy looks like he's back on track.
The Dodgers got pounded by the Angels 10-1, so the Giants move to 2.5 games behind. The Padres scored 2 in the bottom of the 9'th to edge the Mariners 4-3 to move into a first place tie with the Dodgers. Colorado won a rain shortened game vs Toronto and sits 5 games off the pace and 2.5 games behind the Giants. Arizona lost to the Cards 5-2 and continues to dwell in the cellar 12.5 games back.
Barry Zito tries to keep it going against Ben Sheets who darn near threw a no- hitter at the GIants in Oakland.
