Down on the Farm: 8/3/2012

AAA  Fresno Grizzlies defeated the Nashville Sounds 10-5:

Ryan Lollis(CF)- 2 for 4, 3B, BB.  BA= .329.
Linden(.280), Noonan(.305), Whiteside(.248), Stromsmoe(.249)- 2 hits each.

I'm  getting more and more intrigued by Lollis and the fine season he's had.  His numbers this year are from SJ and Fresno though.

AA  Harrisburg Senators edged the Richmond Flying Squirrels 4-3:

Gary Brown(CF)- 1 for 4, 2B, SB(30).  BA= .287.
Juan Perez(RF)- 2 for 4, 2B, 3B.  BA= .289.
Jacob Dunnington(RHP)- 1 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 2 K's.  ERA= 1.35.

I sort of hadn't noticed that Dunnington got promoted from Augusta to Richmond.  Was there an injury layoff in between?  Interesting.  He hasn't pitched many innings this year.

High A  San Jose Giants out hit the Inland Empire 66'ers 11-6:

Joe Panik(SS)- 2 for 5, 2B.  BA= .280.
Adam Duvall(3B)- 3 for 5, 2 HR(22).  BA= .258.
Jarrett Parker(CF)- 2 for 5.  BA= .252.
Stephen Harrold(RHP)- 3 IP, 3 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 1 K.  ERA= 5.40.

Panik hitting .409 over his last 10 games.  He hit .303 for the month of July.  Duvall continues to show power, but the low BA is a problem and he struggles on the field.

Low A  Charleston River Dogs downed the Augusta Greenjackets 2-1 in a game completed after 6 innings:

Kelby Tomlinson(SS)- 2 for 3, SB(30)- BA= .228.
Jesus Galindo(CF)- 2 for 4. BA= .251.
Devin Harris(DH)- 2 for 2.  BA= .299.
Adalberto Mejia(LHP)- 6 IP, 5 H, 2 R, 0 BB, 5 K's.  ERA= 4.86.

Galindo is hitting .371 with an OBP of .500 over his last 10 games.  He hit .306 with a .403 OBP in July. Mejia has just 7 walks in his last 53 IP.  He has a 3.69 ERA over his last 10 appearances despite allowing 8 ER in 4.1 IP, on July 14.  Take out that start and his ERA over the other most recent 9 games is 2.34.

Short Season  Salem-Keizer Volcanoes topped the Everett Aquasox 4-3:

Joseph Rapp(1B)- 2 for 5, HR(7).  BA= .278.
Stephen Branca(SS)- 2 for 4, HR(2).  BA= .284.
Chuckie Jones(CF)- 2 for 4, SB(2).  BA= .231.
Mac Williamson(DH)- 2 for 5.  BA= .300.
Randall Zeigler(RHP)- 3 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 3 BB, 5 K's.  ERA= 7.20.

Rookie AZL  Giants were idle.

DSL  Giants edged the Cubs2 5-4:

Carlos Cartegena(RF)- 2 for 5.  BA= .227.
Keury Mella(RHP)- 4 IP, 3 H, 3 R, 1 ER, 2 BB, 6 K's.  ERA= 2.32.
Diomedes Mateo(RHP)- 5 IP, 5 H, 1 R, 1 BB, 6 K's.  ERA= 1.43.

I believe Cartegena was a 6 figure bonus baby who hasn't done a whole lot so far in his pro career.

  1. Rapp is reminding me a lot of Ban Thomas from last year. Is there any possibility that Rapp is semi-real?

    1. Well, Rapp is a college dude in a league designed more for HS draftees and DSL graduates, so you have to take it with a grain of salt. On the other hand, doing well there is better than doing poorly.
