Down on the Farm: 8/27/2012

AAA  Reno Aces defeated the Fresno Grizzlies 4-3:

Ryan Lollis(CF)- 2 for 4, HR(3).  BA= .313.
Xavier Nady(PH)- 0 for 1, K.  BA= .269.

I thought the reason Nady was not in the starting lineup was because he was called up.  Guess not. He got ejected after his AB in the 10'th.

AA  Richmond Flying Squirrels beat the Harrisburg Senators 8-6:

Gary Brown(LF)- 2 for 4, BB.  BA= .281.
Juan Perez(CF)- 2 for 5, 2B.  BA= .308.
Wes Hodges(1B)- 3 for 3, HR(3), HBP.  BA= .302.
Ehire Adrianza(SS)- 1 for 3, SF, SB(16).  BA= .223.
Chris Wilson(RHP)- 3 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 3 K's.  ERA= 3.00.

High A  Rancho Cucamonga edged the San Jose Giants 4-3:

Carter Jurica(DH)- 2 for 5.  BA= .298.
Joe Panik(SS)- 3 for 5, 2B(27).  BA= .292.
Chris Lofton(LF)- 2 for 3, 3B, BB.  BA= .253.
Kelvin Marte(LHP)- 5.1 IP, 7 H, 3 R, 2 ER, 1 BB, 7 K'.s  ERA= 3.45.
Josh Osich(LHP)- 1 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 0 K.  ERA= 3.99.
Drew Bowlin(RHP)- 1 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 3 K's.  ERA= 4.31.

Probably too late for Panik to make a run at a .300 BA on the season.

Low A  SAL was idle.

Short Season  Salem-Keizer Volcanoes were idle.

Rookie AZL  Cubs downed the Giants 3-1:

Randy Ortiz(CF)- 1 for 3, BB, 2 SB(30).  BA= .254.
John Polonius(SS)- 2 for 4, 2B, 3B.  BA= .300.
Alberto Robles(2B)- 2 for 4, SB(4).  BA= .380.
Brandon Farley(RHP)- 1 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 1 K.  ERA= 1.25.

Ortiz is hitting .310 with on OBP of .421 and 11 SB's over his last 10 games.  His overall OBP is .340 almost .100 higher than his BA.  Polonius continues to impress.  Farley has flown under the radar but has nice numbers in 22 appearances.

DSL  Giants were idle.

Check out John Sickels' write up on Clayton Blackburn at Minor League Ball linked over on the left.

Dodgers got blown out 10-0 by Colorado in Denver with Josh Beckett on the mound.  Beckett fell just 1 out short of a QS but Jansen got shelled and the hitters were held to just 4 hits by Jeff Francis and the Bullpen Brigade.  Dodgers are reportedly still looking to add a pitcher.  I guess they still have Zach Lee as trade bait, and we already know there is no $$$ limit.

  2. If Panik can get to .295, we will call it .300 with a little generosity.

Sorry to ask, but where in the left for the Blackburn article?

    1. Giants believe strongly in versatility. Bochy denied that they are planning to bring him up to play LF, but then he said they want to be ready for anything. I guess everybody can draw their own conclusions from that. I think they are hoping to not have to call up Brown to play LF but have not completely ruled it out either and they want him to be ready.
