AAA Tucson Padres defeated the Fresno Grizzlies 6-2:
Brett Pill(1B)- 2 for 4, 2B. BA= .276.
Xavier Nady(LF)- 2 for 4, 2B. BA= .204.

Dan Runzler(LHP)- 1 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 0 K. ERA= 6.45.
What's the over/under for how many more games before we see Nady starting in LF for the Giants? Pill, Mota and Runzler are likely September callups.
AA Richmond Flying Squirrels edged the Bowie Baysox and Dylan Bundy 4-3:
Gary Brown(LF)- 2 for 5. BA= .283.
Juan Perez(CF)- 2 for 3, HR(11), BB. BA= .307.
Johnny Monell(C)- 2 for 3, 2B, BB. BA= .254.
Ehire Adrianza(SS)- 2 for 3, Sac, SB(14). BA= .222.

Dylan Bundy(RHP, Baysox)- 6 IP, 5 H, 2 R, 1 BB, 4 K's. ERA= 3.18.
Hey! Justin Fitzgerald outpitched Dylan Bundy! Fitz has a 1.39 ERA over his last 10 starts. This was his second scoreless start in a row.
High A San Jose Giants blanked the Visalia Rawhide 8-0:
Joe Panik(SS)- 2 for 5, SB(9). BA= .292.
Andrew Susac(C)- 2 for 4, 2B. BA= .233.
Chris Lofton(LF)- 2 for 4, 2 SB(21). BA= .238.
Skyler Stromsmoe(CF)- 2 for 3, BB. BA= .237.
Taylor Rogers(RHP)- 7 IP, 3 H, 0 R, 4 BB, 4 K's. ERA= 4.21.
Low A Augusta Greenjackets downed the Greenville Drive 4-1:
Shawn Payne- 2 for 4, 2 2B, SB(48). BA= .310.
Brett Krill(LF)- 1 for 4, HR(5). BA= .293.
Clayton Blackburn(RHP)- 7 IP, 6 H, 1 R, 1 BB, 10 K's. ERA= 2.55.
Crick may have better raw stuff than Blackburn but man, it's pretty hard to argue with Blackburn's numbers: 137 K's against just 18 BB in 123.1 IP with a GO/AO= 2.30. He's even a little stronger over his last 10 starts with a 2.25 ERA. Can't wait to see these kids next year with San Jose!
Short Season Vancouver Canadians topped the Salem-Keizer Volcanoes 4-1:
Joe Rapp(1B)- 1 for 4, HR(11). BA= .276.
Chris Stratton(RHP)- 4 IP, 4 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 3 K's. ERA= 2.76.

Rookie AZL Giants beat the Indians 5-3:
Randy Ortiz(RF)- 1 for 3, BB, Sac, 2 SB(24). BA= .248.
John Polonius(SS)- 1 for 4, BB, 2 SB(7). BA= .297.
Tyler Hollick(CF)- 1 for 3, BB, SF. BA= .290.
Martin Agosta(RHP)- 3 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 2 BB, 6 K's. ERA= 2.00.
DSL Giants edged the Cubs2 3-2:
Alejandro Flores(RHP)- 5.2 IP, 1 H, 0 ER, 2 BB, 6 K's. ERA= 2.04.
Diomedes Mateo(RHP)- 3.1 IP, 3 H, 1 R, 0 BB, 2 K's. ERA= 1.62.
PS: Note in BA about Duvall being diagnosed with Type I Diabetes at the end of spring training. It also said most of his errors are coming on throws that sail over the 1B head. Coaches are working with him to change his arm angle to prevent the sailing.

Is it right, the second blown save recently for Bochy? Hopefully, is he OK? What is the story?
ReplyDeleteFitzgerald - is it just the normal ups and downs or has he developed something new or refined something old?
Crick and Blackburn - it's like you don't favor one of your kids over anohter. You believe they are all good.
Fitzgerald was a college closer. Big body, throws in low 90's, can put the ball on the ground. He's always had potential if he could develop a secondary pitch or two. I'd guess he's just been gradually refining some secondary stuff. He's a sleeper who could be a Joe Blanton type MLB starter.
DeleteWith regards to Mota, I believe the Giants have to make a move (most likely send down Hacker) to bring him up before September since he'll reach the maximum number of days he can stay in the minors on rehab assignment.
ReplyDeleteJuan Perez takes Dylan Bundy deep and bumps his OPS over 800 in the big bad Eastern!
ReplyDeleteShawn Payne should get Organization All Star & Post Season All Star, what do you think DrB???
ReplyDeleteNot sure what you are referring to there, Anon.
DeleteI know it's early, but Mason McVay sure seems like he could be a monster out of the pen someday.
ReplyDeletebochy put on dl with arm fatigue, per baggs....and here i was hopin for a callup
ReplyDeleteKid Bochy has come a long way back from Tommy John and stepped up to AA ball this year with solid results. Still like his trajectory and BB IQ. Hopefully his arm just needs a rest. Excited to see how his stuff plays against MBL hitters.
DeleteSeems like the higher level Giants pitching prospects have been bitten by the injury bug this year. Wait to next year: Hembree, Bochy, Surkamp, Runzler, etc.
The cavalry is going to have to come from the big club simply performing better - Timmy, Zito, Casilla and staying better Kontos, Romo, Lopez, Affeldt, Hensely, etc.
1 more. saw a tweet about stratton earlier today, couldnt get any info about what happened
Deletejust now, stratton hit in the head with line drive...no further info as to his condition, but i take it he is out for the rest of the season....lets hope its not too serious..
Seems he is in stable condition just a concussion. He was standing behind second base when it happen according to the article I read on csnbayarea.
