Down on the Farm: 5/2/2012

AAA  Fresno Grizzlies edged the Salt Lake City Bees 5-4:

Conor Gillaspie(3B)- 2 for 4, HR(3).  BA= .362.
Charlie Culberson(2B)- 2 for 4, HR(4).  BA= .288.
Eric Hacker(RHP)- 5 IP, 6 H, 1 R, 2 BB, 5 K's. ERA= 2.12.
Heath Hembree(RHP)- 1 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 1 K, Save(7).  ERA= 1.64.

Gillaspie has even shown some power this spring.  He could be getting a chance to show what he can do at the MLB level real soon.  Hembree would seem to be ready for a callup any time.

AA Bowie Baysox scored 4 runs in the ninth to defeat the Richmond Flying Squirrels 5-3:

Brett Bochy(RHP)- 2.2 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 4 K's.  ERA= 0.00.

Young Mr. Bochy seems to be too good for AA.  Looks like the Giants should not have to spend a lot of $$$ on the bullpen in future years.

High A  San Jose Giants downed the Stockton Ports 5-1:

Ricky Oropesa(1B)- 1 for 2, 2 BB.  BA= .272.
Jeff Arnold(C)- 3 for 4, SB(1).  BA= .619.
Shawn Sanford(RHP)- 6 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 5 K's, GO/AO- 9/3.  ERA= 4.09.

Ricky is a patient hitter.  As we all know, the Giants don't necessarily think that is a good thing.

Low A  Augusta Greenjackets out hit the Kannapolis Intimidators 9-6:

Brett Krill(DH)- 2 for 5.  BA= .217.
Carlos Willoughby(2B)- 2 for 4, 2B.  BA= .215.
Edwin Escobar(LHP)- 5 IP, 7 H, 4 R, 2 ER, 1 BB, 4 K's.  ERA= 2.33.
Cody Hall(RHP)- 1.1 IP, 2 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 3 K's, Save(6).  ERA= 2.70.

  2. That would be so cool for Bochy to call for his son to come in and pitch!

    And Hembree, I agree.

Patience is fine as long as he is not letting by pitches he should be mashing. How is Ricky enjoying the pro life? Anything interesting to share? How is his mom handling things?

    1. I try not to ask invasive questions. When Ricky has a good game I mention it. I think Ricky is impressed by the level of competition but still optimistic for the future. I think mom said he really likes his host family.
