Ricky is hitting .316/.422/.526 over his last 10 games. Can't seem to pull up Chris Lofton's player page, but he's been red hot too. Hopefully this is the start of good things for Panik and Susac too.
Low A SAL was idle.

Adam Duvall struggling so far in SJ. As is Alex Burg. Jarrett Parker has 50 Ks. Ouch.
ReplyDeletePanik has great BB/K of 19/15. Hopefully hits will start falling and some power will kick in as well.
Our 3 headed prize of Panik/Susac/Oropesa are holding their own in OBP, not so hot in SLG. How bout the theory they're getting used to the wooden bats and getting used to contact, particularly Ricky O learning to hit opposite field. I expect power to kick in with all 3 in the next 6 weeks and by the break we'll be looking at better slash lines.
Duvall's struggles are what I expected. Sometimes guys get too hyped. Ryan Lollis leads the team in OBP among hitters with sizable PAs.
I take solace too in that they are holding their own in OBP. That's usually a good sign that they are hitting well enough in the league, just not hitting for power. That's a matter of adjustment on their part, then the power will come.
DeleteYeah, Duvall got plenty hyped after his break out season at Augusta, and while I see why, I mean, he wasn't much of a prospect and it was A-ball, he has to do it at least up to AA before anyone should get all hopped up about him, there are so many hurdles still for him to leap over to even think of the majors.
Ah Brock Bond, another darling of the Lunatic Fringe. Like you noted in a comment, we all want our prospects to do well, but Bond does a little something and the mob hypes him up as the second coming of Freddie Lewis. That's why I don't even go to the Bleacher Reports anymore, all you get is hyperbole like this or Duvall, etc, or just plain crazy stuff.
Ricky's SLG is >.500 over his last 10 games. I think the power will come once he gets comfortable with being a professional ballplayer/wood bats, etc. He started slow his freshman year at USC then came on like gangbusters late that season. I think we're going to find that Ricky is a very good all around hitter, not just a power guy.
DeleteKeep hearing Rosins velos are 94-97 as a closer and that his his slider has really improved. Wish he would have gotten a shot at starting but he's doing well as a closer. His FB might be a mph or two below Hembrees but his secondary command is better IMO. I think he will be more successful at major league level. He should be in AA.
ReplyDeleteOrepesa is really turning it on as well. Great future ahead as well. Lofton also intriguing as he seems to be figuring out his ABs
Rosin seems to be giving up a lot of hits. I sure hope Seth finds it because other than Hembree, I don't see any decent closers...
DeleteSure do like Lofton...
When I've watched him on MILB.tv he hasn't really given up anything hard. Several 2 strike bloops over 1st baseman is all I remember. I'll take the 20 Ks in 12 innings from my closer with a sub-3.0 ERA anyday
