Down on the Farm: 5/6/2012

AAA  Colorado Springs Sky Sox came from behind to nip the Fresno Grizzlies 6-5:

Nick Noonan(SS)- 2 for 4, BB, SB(4).  BA= .337.
Francisco Peguero(RF)- 0 for 5.  BA= .215.
Charlie Culberson(2B)- 3 for 4, 2 2B.  BA= .292.
Jackson Williams(C)- 2 for 5, 2B.  BA= .200.

Culby is hitting .321 over his last 7 games, 9 for 28 with 2 doubles and 3 HR's.  I thought Peguero was ready to roll a few days ago.  I guess not.  Noonan continues his surprisingly strong season.  The people who were ready to close the books on the 2007 draft may have to re-think that.

AA  Atoona Curve defeated the Richmond Flying Squirrels 4-1:

Gary Brown(CF)- 2 for 4, SB(8).  BA= .243.

Brown is hitting .308 with a .357 OBP over his last 10 games.

High A  San Jose Giants downed the Inland Empire 66'ers 4-2:

Chris Lofton(CF)- 1 for 4, HR(2).  BA= .247.
Ricky Oropesa(1B)- 1 for 3, 2B, BB.  BA= .271.
Jarrett Parker(LF)- 1 for 2, HR(5), SB(6).  BA= .179.
Jack Snodgrass(LHP)- 5.2 IP, 7 H, 1 R, 3 BB, 4 K. ERA= 1.29.
Hector Correa(RHP)- 3 IP, 3 H, 1 R, 1 BB, 3 K's. ERA= 5.79.

That's a tough BA for Parker who is repeating the level.  I believe Correa is rehabbing.

Low A  Augusta Greenjackets topped the Hagerstown Suns 4-1:

Kelby Tomlinson(SS)- 2 for 5.  BA= .267.
Shawn Payne(LF)- 1 for 2, 3 BB, SB(10).  BA= .324.
Michael Merganthaler(RF)- 1 for 4, HR(1).  BA= .182.
Kyle Crick(RHP)- 6 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 3 BB, 8 K's  ERA= 1.66.
Cody Hall(RHP)- 1 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 1 K, Save(8).  ERA= 2.51.

Dominant start for Crick!

    1. I believe in this day and age where fans can put their opinions on the internet and fans can communicate directly with players via Twitter, Facebook, etc. that fans can make a big difference both positive and negative. I'll put this one in the positive column.

I imagine they are just being cautious with Hembree. No need to risk a TJ while he's still in the minors.

  2. Shawn Payne's OBP is a beautiful 471 right now.

    1. I'd really like to see Shawn Payne moved up to San Jose. Might happen after the draft in June.

  3. Wow. Noonan and Culberson might actually make it to the big league team this year, if they stay hot and Theriot and Crawford continue to not impress. That would be crazy.

"The people who were ready to close the books on the 2007 draft may have to re-think that." Is this a reference to that terrible Fangraphs article that said Bumgarner had a CEILING of 2nd or 3rd starter. If you haven't seen it DrB, don't go looking for it. No reason to get your blood pressure up.
