Down on the Farm: 6/5//2011

AAA Game 1 Fresno Grizzlies blanked the Las Vegas 51's 3-0:

Tyler Graham(CF)- 2 for 3, 2 SB(28). BA= .279.
Edgar Gonzalez(3B)- 1 for 3, HR(4). BA= .282.
Shane Loux(RHP)- 7 IP, 3 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 3 K's, GO/AO= 11/5.

I think Graham could make a nice 4'th OF for some team. Loux could be a decent emergency starter if the Giants want to trade Sanchez for something good after Zito comes back, not that I'm saying this should happen.

Game 2 Fresno Grizzlies edged the Las Vegas 51's 5-4:

Tyler Graham(CF)- 1 for 3, 2B, SB(29). BA= .280.
Thomas Neal(LF)- 2 for 3, 2B. BA= .375.
Brett Pill(2B)- 1 for 2, HR(10), BB. BA= .293.
James Simmons(RF)- 2 for 3, 2 HR(2). BA= .385.
Marc Kroon(RHP)- 1 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 3 K's, Save(13), ERA= 2.82.

I still think James Simmons is the best athlete in the system. Oh, if he could only hit the curveball! Maybe Marc Kroon will get a chance in the show after all. I mean, if Ryan Vogelsong can do it..... Oh, and Thomas Neal is the Real Deal!

AA Richmond Flying Squirrels topped the Reading Phillies 6-4:

Jose Flores(3B)- 2 for 3, BB. BA= .202.
Johnny Monell(C)- 2 for 4, 2B. BA= .205.
Roger Kieschnick(RF)- 2 for 4. BA= .246.
Nick Noonan(SS)- 0 for 2, 2 BB, SB(2). BA= .232.
Ryan Lormand(1B)- 3 for 4, 2 2B. BA= .196.
Daryl Maday(RHP)- 6 IP, 6 H, 3 R, 2 ER, 3 BB, 6 K's. ERA= 3.74.
Jason Stoffel(RHP)- 1 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 0 K's, Save(9). ERA= 3.54.

Lots of low BA's on this team. Kieschnick seems to be trying to break out.

A+ San Jose Giants beat the Stockton Ports 5-1:

Chris Dominguez(3B)- 1 for 4, HR(10). BA= .285.
Tommy Joseph(C)- 3 for 4, HR(5). BA= .232.
Zack Wheeler(RHP)- 7 IP, 5 H, 1 R, 3 BB, 3 K's, GO/AO=11/5. ERA= 3.40.

Good to see Dominguez and Joseph back on the HR trail. Another strong start for Wheels.

Low A Augusta Greenjackets topped the Charleston River Dogs 4-2:

Ehire Adrianza(SS)- 2 for 3, 2 2B, BB. BA= .205.
Adam Duvall(3B)- 2 for 4, 2B, 3B. BA= .256.
Chris Lofton(CF)- 1 for 3, 2B. BA= .259.
Shawn Sanford(RHP)- 7 IP, 3 H, 1 R, 1 BB, 4 K's. ERA= 2.59.
Brett Bochy(RHP)- 1 IP, 2 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 2 K's. ERA= 2.53.

Despite his .256 BA, Duvall has a .876 OPS on the strength of a .355 OBP and a .521 SLG%. Lofton is hitting .400 in his last 10 games.

  1. I wonder if Graham is gunning (or running?) for Ford's "spot" on the big league roster next year.

Great to see Neal doing well.

  2. neal tweeted about the crowd, over 10k in attendance...basically said it helped to rally the troops

attendance is important to development, which is why i think the giants will work on keeping the richmond franchise...watch to see them buy into it, in order to improve the facilities

i think kroon knowing where he stands in the org has improved his performance

man...i really hope that neal and brown are for real

i think that after zito's start tomorrow, sabean, bochy and evans are gonna have a sit down....look at all the options...i think they will take into account loux's mostly solid starts and the fact that they are stretching out runzler...i do not believe that zito is coming back in two weeks...i think they will use the entire 30 days

as for the guys in richmond...they are all right on schedule...takes about 2 months to adjust from the cal to the el

  3. I think Bochy has a mancrush on Darren Ford. Graham steals a lot of bases but I'm not sure he has Fords pure speed. To whatever extent the Giants have use of a pure speed guy on the bench, I think Ford is going to remain first in that line.
