BABIP luck may have run out on Ty Blach in this one as he allowed 5 runs in 6 IP. The Giants offense could not pick him up. Key Lines:
Brandon Belt 1B- 1 for 3, 2B, BB. BA= .241. Belt is on a pace for 3.0 fWAR on the season, down from last year but more than enough to earn back his salary at an open market rate of $8.4 M/fWAR.
Buster Posey C- 1 for 3, HR(8), BB. BA= .348. Buster has along history of hitting success in Miller Park.
Ty Blach LHP- 6 IP, 9 H, 5 R, 0 BB, 3 K's. ERA= 3.64. The BABIP gods giveth and they taketh away. Ty Blach is very dependent on the BABIP gods.

Bochy was pretty positive about Blach's outing as well. Praised his command and movement, said he's got good velocity and is hard to rattle.
ReplyDeleteMiller is a launching pad. Balls were carrying.
DeleteYou deserve to be part of the rotation if you can eat up 6 innings even on a bad day.
DeleteBlach has a lot going for him when your manager praises you after a rough outing. I'm encouraged about his future in MLB!

The Giants placed Morse on the seven-day concussion list nine days ago and have been mysteriously quite about the whole thing. I'm guessing head injuries are pretty hard to predict. What's your take Doc?
ReplyDeleteRecovery from concussions is notoriously hard to predict.
DeleteJust saw this via Pavs, "Bochy said Mike Morse is still pretty beat up. Turns out he also hurt his ribs in that collision."
ReplyDeleteWow Paolo Espino. Hadn't heard that name in a long time..not since the some past WBC. At this rate I won't be surprised if the Giants throw the smackdown on him or he looks like a Cy Young winner.
ReplyDeleteAnxiously awaiting your comments on Thursday's near disaster -- just a reminder that all is NOT well in Giant-land, although the way they managed to get to the 10th and then put it away was better than it might have been.
ReplyDeleteCan something like this be a turning point? Right and there's still ample real estate to buy!
