Scouting the 2017 Draft: DrB's Best Remaining Available Players

Let's take a look at what players from DrB's draft board are still available heading into Day 2 of the draft.  The top names are all HS kids which raises signability concerns.  The Giants may have a bit of room to play with from the top 2 picks which could raise the 3'rd round bonus allotment above the current $500+K, so if they want to go all in with a youth movement, they probably can but will have to pay attention to signability.  Also not sure how many of these will make it to the Giants who have the 19'th pick in Round 3.

17. Brady McConnell, SS, HS.  Would be a great value in the 3'rd round but probably not singable.

25.  Nick Allen, SS, HS.

32.  Blayne Enlow, RHP, HS.

38.  Alex Scherff, RHP, HS.

39.  Jacob Heatherly, LHP, HS.

40.  Garrett Mitchell, OF, HS.

50.  Ricardo De La Torre, SS, HS.  I really like him and he may be signable for round 3 money.

51.  Michael Gigliotti, OF, College(Lipscomb).  If he's still on the board, I would take him.  Had a rough junior season, but stock dropped too far and is now undervalued IMO.

52. Evan Skoug, C, College(TCU).  Another guy whose stock dropped too far, IMO.  Came back strong in the second half of the college season.  Giants are obviously looking for power and he has it.  Not a catcher though.

53.  Colton Hock, RHP, College(Stanford).  Could be solid value in round 3.

59.  Wil Zirzow RHP, College(Florida St).  My Sleeper Pick.

60. Quinn Brodey, OF, College(Stanford).

Here are some other college names from BA's Best Available list:

68.  KJ Harrison C/1B, Oregon St.
72.  Riley Adams C, San Diego.
77.  Conner Wong C, Houston.
79.  Kevin Smith SS, Maryland.
83. Jake Thompson RHP, Oregon St.
86.  Luis Gonzalez OF, New Mexico.  Hey!  Maybe the Giants draft both Gonzalez boys B2B?

    1. Ha! You are right. They both have dads named Luis Gonzalez but the kid who plays for New Mexico grew up in Tucson and is not the son of the MLB player.

Jacob Gonzalez is indeed the son of ex-Giants tormenter Luis Gonzalez.
