Down on the Farm: 6/28/2017

AAA  Sacramento River Cats pounded the El Paso Chihuahuas 11-3:

Jarrett Parker RF- 3 for 5, 2B.  BA= .269.
Justin Ruggiano CF- 2 for 5, HR(4).  BA= .273.
Chris Shaw LF- 3 for 5, 2B, HR(4).  BA= .270.
Juniel Querecuto SS- 2 for 4, BB, SB(5).  BA= .238.
Andrew Suarez LHP- 6 IP, 5 H, 0 R, 3 BB, 6 K's.  ERA= 3.57.

AA  Richmond Flying Squirrels defeated the Trenton Thunder 5-1:

Matt Gage LHP- 4.2 IP, 5 H, 1 R, 3 BB, 5 K's.  ERA= 2.88.
Cody Hall RHP- 1.1 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 2 K.  ERA= 0.00.

-Former Giant and Giants farmhand Cody Hall shows up in the boxscore.  Drafted in 2011 by the Giants, he's now 29 yo and has appeared in a total of 11.1 MLB innings.  I think most or all of that was with the Giants.

High A  Stockton Ports beat the San Jose Giants 6-3:

Bryan Reynolds CF- 1 for 4, 2B.  BA= .310.
Aramis Garcia C- 2 for 4, HR(12).  BA= .283.
Matt Krook LHP- 6 IP, 3 H, 4 R, 2 ER, 3 BB, 8 K's.  ERA= 6.05.
Will LaMarche RHP- 1.2 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 3 K's.  ERA= 1.83.

-Eric Longenhagen at Fangraphs says Reynolds had a big leg kick at the beginning of the season but had eliminated it in a recent look.
-Krook got off to a rough start with 2 walks and a hit scoring 2 runs in the first inning.  He then allowed just 1 BB the next 4 innings before a couple of hits and an error led to 2 unearned runs in the 6'th.

Low A  West Virginia Power blanked the Augusta Greenjackets 4-0:

Brandon Van Horn SS- 3 for 4, 2B. BA= .272.
Sandro Cabrera LHP- 5 IP, 2 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 4 K's.  ERA= 3.32.

Short Season Boise Hawks topped the Salem-Keizer Volcanoes 8-3:

Ryan Kirby 1B- 2 for 4, 2B.  BA= .360.
John Riley DH- 3 for 4.  BA= .417.

-Riley has never found traction on his career mostly due to very high K rates.

AZL Giants were idle.

DSL  Giants shut down the Padres 5-0:

Aynesber Sivira 2B- 2 for 4, 2B.  BA= .267.
Wascar DeLeon DH- 2 for 3, Sac.  BA= .290.
Franklin Labour CF- 1 for 3, HBP, 2 SB(5).  BA= .299.
Alex Canario RF- 1 for 4, HR(4).  BA= .260.
Aneudy Acosta RHP- 5 IP, 5 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 3 K's.  ERA= 4.91.
Oliver Pinto RHP- 2 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 6 K's.  ERA= 2.08.

-Sivira and Canario are two 17 year olds who keep showing up in the highlights.  Canario in particular shows both power and speed while playing RF.  Sivira plays several positions.  We'll keep an eye on them.

  1. Any idea when Arroyo and Heath Quinn will return from the DL? What is the extent of their injuries?

    1. IDK. I know Arroyo got hit on the hand. Initially they thought he was OK but obviously he's missed some games. It's really hard to find injury info on minor league players.
