AAA Fresno Grizzlies beat the Sacramento River Cats 7-6:
Jarrett Parker LF- 0 for 3, 2 BB. BA= .273.
Ryder Jones 3B- 2 for 4, 2B, BB. BA= .299.
Chris Shaw DH- 1 for 4, 2B, BB. BA= .263.
Jae-Gyun Hwang 1B- 1 for 3, 2B, BB. BA= .290.
Michael Roth LHP- 6.2 IP, 7 H, 4 R, 3 ER, 2 BB, 4 K's. ERA= 4.11.
Derek Law RHP- 0.2 IP, 1 H, 2 R, 4 BB, 1 K. ERA= 10.80.
-Austin Slater seems to have grabbed the LF job by the throat, so Parker may not have a starting job to come back to.
-Ryder Jones has been solid all season which makes his current extended hot streak all the more impressive. He's hitting .351 over his last 10 games, .343 for the month of June and .352 since his BA hit a nadir of .264 on May 23.
-Hwang is creeping closer to his opt out date and he's been playing exclusively at 1B, which would not seem to enhance his chances of getting called up to SF.
-The Giants must think Derek Law is healthy as they used him on consecutive days since his demotion, but man, something is not right with him!

-Cederoth continues to look like a great pickup for the Giants.

-Zeigler came out of the game after the HBP. Hope it's just precautionary.

DSL Blue Jays topped the Giants 4-2:
Andrew Carabello 3B- 0 for 1, 3 BB. BA= .286.

The Giants entire farm system will be in action tonight as the Arizona Giants open their season. We should see several 2017 draftees in the lineup possibly including first rounder Heliot Ramos and second rounder Jacob Gonzalez.

As between Parker and Slater, I wonder who plays the better CF. I think we've seen enough of Gorkys.
ReplyDeleteParker and Williamson have disappointed. Williamson seems injury-prone and needs too long to find his stroke; Parker had a bad-luck injury but had already botched his big chance. Had Parker been raking people would be counting the days to get him back.
Thank heavens Slater looks like he actually wants the job.
Starting to wonder if Panik gets moved before the deadline to open up a 2B/3B scenario for Arroyo/Ryder.
Slater, despite being up just a short-timer in the OF, has the second highest WAR of all OFers we've had out there this year. So, yeah, he's playing like he wants to keep the job...
DeleteI'd rather they didn't ship Panik out, but that might be the tough choice if Jones can hit up here and play a good 3B while Arroyo handles second.
Ryder has been called up. Will play 3B while Nunez is in DL. Corresponding move not announced yet. Most assume Hill will be DFA'd.
ReplyDeleteYou are right! Hill Df'd
