Down on the Farm: 6/29/2017

AAA  Sacramento River Cats outslugged the El Paso Chihuahuas 11-10:

Jarrett Parker CF- 1 for 4, HR(1), BB.  BA= .267.
Chris Shaw LF- 4 for 5, 2 HR(6).  BA= .292.
Matt Winn C- 3 for 3, 2 2B, HR(1), BB, SF.  BA= 1.000.
DJ Snelton LHP- 2 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 5 K's.  ERA= 2.66.
Derek Law RHP- 1 IP, 3 H, 2 R, 0 BB, 0 K, Save(1). ERA= 7.71.

-Chris Shaw made BA's Hot Sheet this week.
-Winn gets the promo to AAA and has a day.  Not sure why he went up.  Trevor Brown is listed on the 7-day DL and only other backup for Fedex is Ryan Matranga.  So maybe in injury to Brownie created the need?
-Another strong appearance for Snelton.  Is he putting himself in position for tryout with the big club?
-Derek Law is apparently healthy, but suddenly very messed up.

Dylan Rheault RHP- 1 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 1 K, Save(6).  ERA= 2.76.

-Reynolds is the Giants lone representative to the Futures Game.
-Seems like Ryan Howard doesn't have anything left to prove in A ball.

Vic Black RHP- 1 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 3 K's, Save(1).  ERA= 5.14.

-S-K's bullpen has been awful but was great in this game.

  1. On Matt Winn's promotion, I somewhere saw the guess that Fedex plans to exercise an opt-out in his contract, since he's stuck in AAA rather than being Posey's backup, as he probably hoped to be when he signed with the Giants. Winn is his replacement, then.

  2. Love what we're seeing from Shaw. If he can break .300 in his first round of AAA, along with the HR and XBH power, this is a good sign for his development.

Belt needs to get on a hot streak, and then head out to a contender. He's not part of the re-tool, I believe, and the contracts on this team need to be split up. Much rather retain Posey, Craw, Shark and Bum & allow Belt & Pence head for greener pastures. If you want to re-tool, the 2018-2019 FA class is the one to do it in!

  4. Heath Slatton did a complete face plant in AAA, and is back at S-K? What's with that? A big promotion from AA then a bigger demotion!

    1. IDK, but usually when something like that happens, there is an injury involved.
