AAA Reno Aces outslugged the Fresno Grizzlies 14-7:
Jesus Guzman- 2 for 5, 2B, HR(14). BA= .307.
Brett Pill- 2 for 3, 2B, BB, HBP. BA= .275.
Jackson Williams- 2 for 4, 2B. BA= .204.
Eric Hacker- 4.2 IP, 9 H, 6 R, 0 BB, 3 K's. ERA= 4.80.
Brandon Medders- 1 IP, 4 H, 5 R, 1 BB, 1 K. ERA= 5.28.
Daryl Maday- 2 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 0 K. ERA= 8.87.
Does it seem like the Grizzlies have played half their games against Reno and Las Vegas? Stick a fork in Medders. He's done.
AA Richmond Flying Squirrels game against the Reading Phillies was suspended after 6 innings with the Phils leading 9-2:
Brandon Belt- 1 for 3, 3B. BA= .377.
Conor Gillaspie- 2 for 3, 2B. BA= .279.
Given the score, I'm not sure why this game wasn't just completed early rather than suspended.
HIgh A The Cal League had the day off.
Low A Hickory Crawdads blanked the Augusta Greenjackets 6-0 in a game completed early after 7 innings:
Zack Wheeler- 1 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 2 BB, 0 K's. ERA= 4.73.
Kelvin Marte- 1 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 2 K's. ERA= 0.00.
The Giants must be planning to let Wheeler play out the season 1 inning at a time. Marte moves up from the AZL.
Everett Aquasox topped the Salem-Keizer Volcanoes 4-1:
Edwin Escobar- 4 IP, 3 H, 0 R, 3 BB, 5 K's. ERA= 3.41.
Escobar has looked like a nice pickup for Ben Snyder.
Rookie AZL GIants were idle.
DSL Giants defeated the Orioles 3-1:
Leonardo Fuentes- 1 for 4, 2B. BA= .233.
Keurin Feliz- 6 IP, 5 H, 1 R, 1 BB, 7 K's. ERA= 2.06.
Renzo Freite- 2 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 2 K's. ERA= 2.49.
Thank God for the DSL Giants who got the only W in the organization last night. Tough night to be a Giants fan!

the pitching across our farm system has deteriorated as the season has progressed...this is not a good thing
ReplyDeletePitching was and is the weakest part of our farm system. The Giants may have overcompensated for years of ignoring position players in the draft. I would have been happy if they had taken a pitcher in the first round rather than Brown this year.
ReplyDeleteHopefully some of the younger kids like Wheeler, Concepcion, Roibal and Escobar will step up next year and hopefully there's a good pitching prospect available at their spot in the draft next year. We don't need the pitching prospects right now, but we likely will in a couple of years.
If Wheeler and Sosa were doing better, as was expected/hoped for, then I think the balance would be OK.
ReplyDeleteBut with the pitching we currently have on the major league roster, hitting is still where we are lacking, so I like the Brown pick, as we need both a lead-off guy as well as a CF.
I think things will need to start to rebalance maybe next season, though depending on the BPA when we pick in the first round.
