The Giants slide in the standings, as well as Tim Lincecum's struggles continued as they fell once again to a division rival. Key lines:
Aubrey Huff- 2 for 4, 2 HR(14). BA= .292. Huff is one Giant who is not struggling. He's on a 1 year contract and likely be in demand at the trade deadline.....not that I'm giving up on the season just yet.
Buster Posey- 2 for 3. BA= .308. You think Buster had a burden lifted when Bengie was traded?
Tim Lincecum- 6 IP, 9 H, 4 R, 4 BB, 4 K's. ERA= 3.28. Struggling for Timmy is a pretty good season for most pitchers, but he's struggling.
The loss drops the Giants 6.5 games behind the Padres who shut out Houston 3-0 behind Mat Latos who outdueled Roy Oswalt. With the W, Colorado remains 4 games behind and 2.5 ahead of the Giants. The Dodgers lost to the D'Backs in Kirk Gibson's managerial debut 12-5 to fall 3.5 games off the pace while Arizona stays 13 games behind in last place.
Barry Zito goes up against Ubaldo Jimenez who was untouchable until his last two starts in which he has given up 10 ER in 11.2 IP. It's a tall order, but the Giants losing streak has to end sometime, right?
