Game Wrap 07-07-2010: Giants 15 Brewers 2

The Giants offense, led by Buster Posey erupted for 15 runs to make Tim Lincecum's job of starting pitcher easy as he and the Giants cruised to a 15-2 win over the hapless BrewCrew. Key lines:

Andres Torres- 2 for 5, 2B, HR(5), BB. BA= .278. Torres just keeps on delivering the goods in his breakout year.

Freddy Sanchez- 2 for 6, 3B. BA- .285. Another solid performance by Sanchez.

Aubrey Huff- 1 for 3, HR(16), BB. BA= .295. Huff was lifted for Aaron Rowand after the game was well out of reach for the Brewers.

Buster Posey!- 4 for 4, 2 HR(5), BB. BA= .331. Another star is born! Not that there was any doubt that Posey was/is destined for stardom in MLB, but he proved tonight that his time is NOW! It's like with Molina gone, Buster knows he's the man, and he's proving it game by game. I think all doubts were erased for good tonight.

Pablo Sandoval- 2 for 5. BA= .261.

Edgar Renteria- 3 for 5. BA= .304.

Eli Whiteside- 2 for 5. BA= .261.

Tim Lincecum- 7 IP, 4 H, 1 R, 2 BB, 10 K's. ERA= 3.16. You can pitch differently with a big lead. Timmy cruised today!

With the win, the Giants gained another game to 5 back of NL West leaders San Diego who dropped another close decision to the Nats 7-6. The Dodgers also lost, getting shut out 4-0 to Josh Johnson and the Marlins, to stay 3 games back, while Colorado edged St Louis 8-7 to move into a tie with LA. Arizona D'Backs lost yet again to the Cubbies to stay 17.5 games back and in last place.

Barry Zito goes for the sweep tomorrow vs Manny Parra. Make it a sweep, Barry!

  2. Looks like the trade speculation is dying down. Of course, the trades seem to actually occur when you least expect them. I agree on Hart. We would be buying high on him. He is very likely to regress in the second half. I don't want to see the Giants trade any of their current SP's.

  3. "I think my role here has changed a little bit," Posey said. "I'm counted on a little more."

Posey has stepped up, for sure.

That's the problem with rumors, it just encourages all the people who think Sabean is an idiot, when the rumors are mainly the other team leaking it and trying to drum up interest in their players (Hart, Rios).

Totally agree, would not trade any of their current SP's, though I would be OK with trading Zito under the right circumstances.
