Game Wrap 7/25/2022: D'Backs 7 Giants 0

Jakob Junis RHP was a gamer for 4 innings but go zero, and I mean zero, support from his teammates after reaching the end of his pitch count in a loss that was even more embarrassing than getting swept in a 4-game series by the Dodgers.

Other than Junis, the one bright spot might have been Luis Gonzalez RF who got 2 of the Giants 3 hits....except he got picked off 1B after the single and doubled off the bag after the double.

Beyond that, utter and complete futility.  No need to go into more details.

If this game does not convince FZ to put potential buyers for Carlos Rodon LHP and Joc Pederson OF on speed dial, I am not sure what would.

Speaking of Rodon, he gets a chance to showcase for potential buying teams tomorrow evening facing Tyler Gilbert LHP who was originally scheduled to start tonight but was replaced by Merrill Kelly RHP.

  1. Team is unwatchable and it's 2 All-stars are likely leaving in the off-season. FZ has done little to acquire top end prospects with our high draft picks. Hell, those high draft picks don't even have good value to trade for controllable big leaguers. Not going to turn on a guy that pushed us to 107 wins but the outlook is pretty bleak

    1. Unwatchable is a strong word but I think accurate in most recent games. It's so bad I've started playing online chess while the game is on and look up if something happens. I don't have to look up very often.

    2. In fact, when someone gets on base, it's not a time to look up because he's likely to be picked off or doubled up!
Didn't happen yesterday, but it seems it's not even watchable with the bases loaded.
It's best to watch the inning score and when a run goes up, back up the recording and watch.
Personally, don't like Dave's play-by-play, so I often don't listen to the sound either.

  2. hjellie and ramos are trending the wrong direction in sacramento right now, might bryce johnson and bryan brickhouse get opportunities to show their stuff in the majors after the deadline?

    1. Not too worried about Hjelle. Fatigue may be setting in and the PCL is brutal for pitchers who depend on sinking action and groundballs. Of course, the Giants defense is brutal for groundball pitchers right now too.... or any kind of contact pitcher!
