Anyone else ready to see what Grant McCray can do at a higher level? After hitting .122 in April and .244 in May, Alexander Suarez hit .267 in June and .318 so far in July.
PIcking up on the comments from 7/25, and assuming that some roster spots on the 25 open up next week, who would you like to see called up for a look-see in the second half?
ReplyDeleteThat's a good question, which is one of the reasons why it would be a good idea to add a few more near MLB-ready prospects before the deadline. Ramos has been disappointing, though young for the level. He's not a great callup candidate. If Hjelle is getting fatigued, it's probably not a good idea to call him up except for limited usage. The Churn has pretty much wrung the AAA ranks dry and prospects a lower levels aren't quite ready yet.
DeleteListened to an interesting Roger Munter podcast where he interviewed BAs Geoff Pontes about the Giants 2022 draft. He saw a few of the pitchers Giants selected. Came away encouraged. Reggie Crawford is a high risk/high ceiling pitcher, won't hurt as much if they miss being a late 1st round pick instead of a mid 1st round pick. He wasn't impressed with Whisenhunt but saw him 1 time in the Cape. He really liked 3rd round pick Kempner, throws sidearm in the high 90's and their 5 round pick Simon. He also had nice things to say about their 12th rounder Vogel. He liked their 2022 draft overall but we'll see.
ReplyDeleteHe also said the Giants system has other pitchers ready to pop led by Kyle Harrison of course. It was a pitching heavy podcast for sure
