Game Wrap 7/17/2022: Giants 9 Brewers 5

The Giants built a 9-1 lead behind another solid start from Logan Webb RHP and coasted to a win in a game that was not as close as the final score would indicate.

A mammoth splash hit 3-run HR from Lamonte Wade Jr 1B in the third inning was the big blow that put this one away.

Brandon Belt PH/DH added 2-run shot in the 6'th that landed in the RF arcade to an earlier RBI single.  I saw a report that Belt went to have his knee drained immediately after the game and his hoping to heal over the All-Star Break so we may be seeing a lot more of Wade Jr at 1B.  And yeah, the knee thing does not sound good.

Austin Slater CF stayed hot going 2 for 3, 2B, 2 BB out of the leadoff spot to raise his BA to .303.

Logan Webb RHP- 6 IP, 4 H, 2 R, 2 BB, 5 K's, GO/AO= 9/1.  ERA= 2.83.  Webb gave up a first inning run then a leadoff walk to Andrew McCutchen LF in the 7'th.  'Cutch scored on a HR given up by Jake Junis RHP.  Seems a little ridiculous that Webb is not an All-Star but probably better for everybody to get some R&R over the break.  This was Junis' first appearance after an IL layoff and he clearly did not have hit best slider going.  The Giants expect him to step into Anthony DeSclafani RHP's rotation slot after the break.

The Giants finish the official first half of the season on a high note.  The start the second half Thursday with a big 4-game series in LA.  Woo Hoo!  Go Giants!
