Down on the Farm: 7/24/2022

Isan Diaz 2B- 1 for 2, 2B, 2 BB, BA= .266.

Sean Hjelle RHP- 4 IP, 6 H, 3 R, 4 BB, 4 K, GO/AO= 7/0.  ERA= 5.27.

If you are going to succeed by putting the ball on the ground, you better have good fielders with range behind you and you better not be walking a batter an inning.

  1. Vaun Brown is a true south central Floridian.
On a personal side, I do know what it's like to move from native Florida to San Jose California. I wasn't much older than he is when I came to Silicon Valley from Gainesville back in 1960-something.
    It was/is a culture shock.
He probably will consider Richmond nearly home! Weatherwise it's far better than Eugene to native Floridians. I spent some of my non-Florida life not far from Richmond in rural Delaware, and, 50 years ago, that was not a lot different from Florida - beaches were close.
Essentially, hardly more than a year ago he was playing high school ball in central Florida, then Arizona, then San Jose, then Eugene - the Squirrels will be his 6th team, his 6th level, in not much more than a year.
Plus he's already in a new zone for games played in a "season" - the next level of pitching in a unfriendly hitters league would test anyone.
And "all" he has to do is look good to get to Sacramento.
    LOL
