I can't find the reference now but Will Wilson SS underwent some kind of surgery, I think maybe TJ? He is now listed as 60 day IL and is likely out for the rest of the season.
ReplyDeletePer Maria Torres of The Athletic on July 5th:
Delete“We’re singing the Will Wilson blues now. Not long after his promotion to Triple A, the Giants infield prospect suffered a wrist injury. He had surgery to repair a hamate fracture last week. He expected to return to play in five to six weeks but he was placed on the 60-day injured list. Wilson, a first-rounder the Giants acquired from the Angels along with Zack Cozart’s loaded contract in the winter of 2019, will not be eligible to be reinstated from the IL until Aug. 31.”
Villar on his way
ReplyDeleteIt's about time. Great story. Rule 5 eligible last offseason but left off 40 man roster despite one of the best AA seasons in recent memory by any Giants position prospect. MLB phase of Rule 5 draft cancelled due to COVID. Had it not been, could easily have been lost in the draft. If he's not a MLB hitter, then minor league stat lines mean nothing. You can dismiss PCL stats because it's an extreme hitter's league but the EL has been wall for Giants hitting prospects for decades now and Villar killed it there in 2021.
DeleteI envision a possible David Freese type career for Villar which.....that would be a pretty dang good career!
DeleteAmen Doc; Amen!!!
ReplyDeleteI am going to enjoy some home made popcorn and a few brews today watching the game!!!!
