The Giants scored 4 runs over the final 3 innings for a come-from-behind win over the D'Backs and a much-needed series win. Brandon Crawford SS drove in the walk-off run with a bases-loaded single.
It was a bullpen game. Sam Long LHP gave up all 3 runs over 1.2 IP in innings 2 and 3. Tyler Rogers RHP(2.1 IP) and Jarlin Garcia LHP(2 IP) both seem to perform best in multi-inning appearances. Rogers has allowed just 1 ER in 13 IP over 7 multi-inning appearances while Garcia has allowed 3 ER in 17 IP over 9 multi-inning appearances.
Camilo Doval RHP pitched a scoreless 9'th inning and got credit for the W.
The offense was led by Brandon Belt DH 2 for 4, HR(7) who started the winning 9'th inning rally with a single. The good news on Belt is he is finally heating up(.471 over his last 7 games). The bad news is he is DH'ing because of swelling in his arthritic knee and may need to have it drained again.
Thairo Estrada 2B- 2 for 4, 2B. BA= .262. Estrada is 6 for his last 14 AB.
Mike Yastrzemski RF/CF- 2 for 3, 2 2B, BB. BA= .235. YtY is 6 for his last 19 AB with a BB.
David Villar 3B- 0 for 1, BB, HBP, SF. BA= .258. An adventurous line from Villar.
Wilmer Flores PH- 1 for 1, HR(13). BA= .254. Speaking of hot hitting, Wilmer is hitting .333 over his last 7 games and .310 over his last 15.

The Churn:
The Giants used the open 40-man roster space created by the Jake McGee LHP DFA to claim Angel Rondon RHP off waivers from the Cardinals. They then optioned Rondon to AAA Sacramento. Rondon pitched 5 shutout innings in his only MLB appearance this season. He pitched two shutout MLB innings in 2021. He has a 4.04 ERA in 49 AAA IP this season.
Giants:Brewers - Great match-ups, either team could win 3 of 4, but one outcome is much more likely. Gotta hope SF brings the bats with hits in them.
ReplyDeleteRoyal:Blue Jays - A fiasco with Canadian Law barring 10 KC players from entering the country because they are not vaccinated, and they are core players.
