Down on the Farm: 7/22/2011

AAA Colorado Springs Skysox downed the Fresno Grizzlies 6-3:

Justin Christian(RF)- 2 for 5, HR(4). BA= .305.
Tyler Graham(CF)- 1 for 4, 2 SB(48). BA= .269.
Mark DeRosa(2B)- 1 for 4. BA= .368.
Nick Noonan(SS)- 2 for 4. BA= .357.
Jonathan Sanchez(LHP)- 5 IP, 3 H, 2 R, 2 BB, 8 K's. ERA= 3.60.

Looks like a pretty typical Jonathan Sanchez game to me.

AA Richmond Flying Squirrels split a DH with the Harrisburg Senators winning the first game 3-1 and dropping the second 1-0:

Game 1:

Chris Dominguez(3B)- 1 for 3, HR(4). BA= .282.
Justin Fitzgerald(RHP)- 6 IP, 3 H, 1 R, 0 BB, 2 K's. ERA= 3.34.
Heath Hembree(RHP)- 1 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 2 K's. ERA= 2.45.

game 2:

Nothing to see here.

High A Bakersfield Blaze torched the San Jose Giants 7-1:

Zack Wheeler- 5.1 IP, 10 H, 5 R, 1 BB, 3 K's, GO/AO= 8/0. ERA= 3.99.

Wheels kept the walks down, but got hit around pretty good.

Low A Augusta Greenjackets game was cancelled.

Short Season Salem-Keizer Volcanoes topped the Everett Aquasox 5-3:

Jesus Galindo(CF)- 4 for 5, 2B, SB(16). BA= .267.
Kaohi Downing(LF)- 2 for 4, HBP. BA= .341.
Brett Krill(RF)- 3 for 4. BA= .364.
Joe Staley(C)- 1 for 4, HR(5). BA= .247.
Lorenzo Mendoza(RHP)- 6 IP, 4 H, 2 R, 0 BB, 8 K's. ERA= 5.66.

Galindo is looking more and more like a keeper. Despite his relatively high ERA, Mendoza appears to be pitching well with 34 K's against just 5 BB's in 35 IP.

Rookie AZL D'Backs scored 11 runs in the first 2 innings then held off a late rally to edge the Giants 15-14:

Kelby Tomlinson(SS)- 3 for 6, 2B. BA= .316.
Jose Cuevas(3B)- 2 for 5, BB. BA= .299.
Leonardo Fuentes(RF)- 2 for 5, 2B. BA= .270.
Eldred Barnett(LF-CF)- 3 for 6. BA= .292.
Stephen Yarrow(DH)- 3 for 5. BA= .600.
Jean Delgado(2B)- 2 for 4, BB. BA= .333.
Christian Diaz(PH)- 1 for 1. BA= .500.

Obviously a great game to pad the stat lines. Especially love what the young kids are showing, Fuentes, Delgado and Diaz. Yarrow makes his pro debut after signing as a non-drafted free agent out of USF. He's listed as a 3'rd baseman.

DSL Phillies edged the Giants 5-4:

Nothing to see here.
