Down on the Farm: 7/21/2011

AAA Reno Aces beat the Fresno Grizzlies 11-4:

Nick Noonan(SS)- 2 for 4. BA= .300.
Justin Christian(RF)- 1 for 4, SF, SB(12). BA= .299.

Noonan gets the call up to AAA despite struggling at the plate in AA. This may be more due to organizational need than a sign that Noonan is closer to the majors. It may also mean that the Brett PIll at 2B experiment is over since it moves EdGone to 2B and Pill back to 1B.

AA Richmond Flying Squirrels defeated the Harrisburg Senators 8-5:

Sharlon Schoop(SS)- 1 for 3, HR(1), BB. BA= .185.
Juan Perez(CF)- 2 for 3, 2 2B, BB. BA= .243.
Mitch Lively(RHP)- 2 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 2 BB, 3 K's. ERA= 0.00.

Does Noonan's promo to AAA open the door for Sharlon Schoop to play SS again? This was Perez' 3'rd 2-hit game in a row. 4 of those 6 hit were doubles. Lively gets the promo from San Jose. I see him as an organizational pitcher at this point.

High A Bakersfield Blaze burned the San Jose Giants 5-1:

Honestly? Nothing to see here!

Low A Augusta Greenjackets dropped both ends of a twin bill to the Hagerstown Suns 4-2 and 3-0:

Nothing much to see here either!

Short Season Salem-Keizer Volcanoes topped the Everett Aquasox 7-4:

Jesus Galindo(DH)- 2 for 5, HR(2), SB(15). BA= .240.
Kaohi Downing(2B)- 2 for 5. BA= .333.
Garrett Buechele(3B)- 4 for 4, 2B, SB(1). BA= .268.
Dan Brock(1B)- 2 for 4, 2 3B. BA= .170.
Kendry Flores(RHP)- 5 IP, 6 H, 1 R, 1 BB, 5 K's. ERA= 4.60.

I like what I'm seeing from Galindo this year. He spent 2 years in the DSL, but skipped the AZL and is on the young side for this league at age 20. His line over the last 10 games is .293/.333/.463 with 2 HR's and 6 SB's.

Rookie AZL A's downed the Giants 4-0:

Edwin Escobar(LHP)- 5.1 IP, 4 H, 1 R, 1 BB, 5 K's. ERA= 3.38.

DSL Mets1 edged the Giants 3-2:

Adalberto Mejia(LHP)- 7 IP, 5 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 9 K's. ERA= 0.90.

Mejia's line for the last 2 games is 15 IP, 9 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 18 K's. Can't wait to see what he does next year in the States!
