Down on the Farm: 5/21/2011

AAA New Orleans Zephyrs downed the Fresno Grizzlies 4-2:

Really not much to see here. Casilla pitched another scoreless inning an a rehab appearance. Justin Dowdy got promoted to Fresno and pitched a scoreless frame.

AA Reading Phillies edged the Richmond Flying Squirrels 4-3:

Roger Kieschnick(RF)- 2 for 3, BB. BA= .229. Kieschnick stays hot.

A+ San Jose Giants pushed across a run in the bottom of the 9'th inning to take the Stockton Ports 1-0:

Hector Sanchez(DH)- 2 for 4, 2 2B. BA= .304.
Chris Heston(RHP)- 8 IP, 3 H, 0 R, 3 BB, 4 K's, GO/AO= 11/3.
Heath Hembree(RHP)- 1 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 3 K's, Save(13). ERA= 0.56.

Sanchez stays hot. Heston was actually a good pitcher for Augusta last year, but those of us who know W-L don't mean much still tend to subconsciously downgrade a pitcher with a poor W-L. He's been a bit luckier this year but had to take this on through the 8'th to get 1 run in support. Hembree should probably be promoted about the time Gary Brown is.

Low A August Greenjackets defeated the Charleston River Dogs 3-1 in 11 innings:

Adam Duvall(3B)- 2 for 4, HR(12), BB. BA= .266.
Drew Biery(DH)- 1 for 4, HR(2). BA= .268.
Shawn Sanford(RHP)- 6 IP, 6 H, 1 R, 0 ER, 0 BB, 4 K's. ERA= 2.54.

Duvall has turned into this monster since moving to 3B. The organization suddenly has depth at that position!

  2. Bacci, any clue as to the nature of Belt's Ks? Were they swinging or looking?

  3. This is one of my favorite blogs to visit. I remember back in the day when you used to post on the Giants message board. Glad you started your own blog.

Am able to go to all 3 San Jose vs. Stockton games this weekend + Monday.

Not much hitting Saturday. But - man - Gary Brown is fast. 2 sort of routine ground balls he made bang-bang at first.

Brandon Crawford made several nice plays at SS - a nice turn for a double play - showed off his arm on a throw - get ready Fresno.

Jarrett Parker - kid has some room to fill out - at least 15 llbs. or so.

Chris Dominguez is a big dude.

Hembree - blew away those 3 guys in the 9th -

  5. Ryan, all the reports said that Brown can get to first base as fast as any LHB, and he's handicapped by being a RHB! That, to me, means he's that much faster on the bases, as well.
