College Corner: Pitching Duel for the Ages!

There was a pitching duel last night between Josh Osich of Oregon State and Trevor Bauer of UCLA that was about as good as it gets. Here's the two lines:

Josh Osich- 9 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 13 K's.

Trevor Bauer- 9 IP, 4 H, 2 R, 2 BB, 15 K's.

I think everybody here knows about Trevor Bauer. Josh Osich has been flying under the radar until just recently. He's a big LHP, 6'3", 225 lbs. He missed last season with TJ surgery. He featuers a low-mid 90's fastball and a good changeup. Early in the season, he was throwing only fastballs and changeups as he hadn't been cleared to throw curveballs yet. Yesterday, he was able to add the curveball to his arsenal. He seems to be moving up a lot of draft boards. I've seen his name at #29. The Giants have not been afraid to take post-TJ guys in the past. Here's Osich's line for the season: 6-1, 2.77, 55.1 IP, 22 BB, 58 K's.

As an Oregon State Beaver, Osich would be right at home wearing the Orange and Black of SF.
