Game Wrap 7/4/2018: Rockies 1 Giants 0

They say it is a game of inches.  The difference in this game was a solo HR in the bottom of the 7'th inning by Chris Iannetta which if it was fair, it was only fair by a few inches.  That was the only blemish on an outstanding pitching performance by Andrew Suarez and the Giants offense was not able to pick him up.  You give up 1 run in Coors Field and you should win.   Tough, tough loss!  Key Lines:

Andrew Suarez LHP- 7 IP, 5 H, 1 R, 0 BB, 6 K's, GO/AO= 10/3.  ERA= 3.92.  Suarez was outstanding and pitched more than well enough to win.  We'll see how the Giants rotation shakes out with the return of Johnny Cueto and Jeff Samardzija, but Suarez stated his case to remain in it.

With the Loss, the Giants sit in 3'rd place in the NL West 4 games behind the leading D'Backs pending the outcome of the D'Backs vs Cardinals game in progress at this writing.  The Dodgers topped the Pirates 6-4 and are 1 games behind the leaders.  The Rockies are 4.5 games back in 4'th place and the Padres lost again to the A's to fall 12 games off the pace in last place.

Johnny Cueto returns from the DL tomorrow evening as the Giants return to AT&T Park to open a series against the Cardinals.

  1. Suarez pitched great but how nice would it be if he could lay down a decent bunt -- sure hope he stays in the majors now.

  2. Posey said that they need to make hitting adjustments the next time they visit Coors. They're better then that, scoring 3 runs in 3 games. That's kinda embarrassing to do that at Coors,
not to take anything away from Rockies pitching. Anderson pitched a gem against the Dodgers his previous start.

Both are worthy but only one is ours.
Last day to vote, you have 5 more shots (per email account).
Cubs aren't "stuffing" this year doesn't mean we shouldn't be!
