I was a big night for Steven Duggar who led the Giants attack in a game what was a nail biter until the 7'th inning. Key Lines:
Steven Duggar CF- 2 for 4, 2 2B, BB. BA= .286. Wow! This is what we've been waiting and hoping for with Duggar, who drove in 2 runs and scored 3 and was pretty much the difference in the game. He scored the first 2 Giants runs of the game and his bases-loaded double was the big blow in the 5-run 7'th inning. That double came of lefty Jeremy Bleich who was making his MLB debut just a couple of games after Duggar made his at the age of 31.
Buster Posey C- 2 for 4, 2B. BA= .289. Buster is 5 for 12 after taking an 0 for 5 on 7/9.
Madison Bumgarner LHP- 6 IP, 3 H, 1 R, 3 BB, 5 K's. ERA= 2.90. Not a dominant start for Bum, but other than a solo HR to Chad Pinder, Bum allowed just 2 baserunners through 6 but then loaded the bases to start the 7'th inning with a leadoff single and 2 BB's.
Reyes Moronta RHP- 1 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 1 K. ERA= 1.76. Moronta got the call in the high leverage situation and delivered with a K, lineout and ground-out to get out of the bases-loaded jam Bumgarner left behind.
Sam Dyson RHP- 2 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 2 K's. ERA= 3.20. By the time Dyson entered the game, the Giants had a 6 run lead, but those were 2 easy innings using just 19 pitches and just 4 in the 8'th innings. He was pounding the zone with a heeaavvy fastball.

The Dodgers, D'Backs and Rockies all won so the Dodgers lead the NL West by 0.5 games over the Snakes and 3 games over the Rockies. The Giants are in 4'th place also 3 games behind but trail the Rockies by percentage points. he Pathetic Padres bring up the rear of the division 13.5 games off the pace.

Bumgarner: He's really struggling with his cutter. Normally he has one of the best cutters in baseball. This year it's playing up slightly below average. Makes me wonder if his hand is still bothering him.
ReplyDeleteMoronata: Wow, talk about working out of a jam. Bumgarner should buy him something nice because that situation was man's job and a Moronata gave him man's job well done.
