Down on the Farm: 7/22/2018

AAA  El Paso Chihuahuas mauled the Sacramento River Cats 10-3:

Myles Schroder 2B- 2 for 4, HR(5).  BA= .260.
Tyler Rogers RHP- 1 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 0 K, GO/AO= 2/0.  ERA= 1.78.

If the knuckle dragging stuff works for Tyler Rogers in the PCL, it should also work in places like AT&T, Dodger Stadium, Petco Park and Oakland Coliseum.

DSL  Giants were idle.

  1. Tyler Rogers might be another Chad Bradford. He would certainly be a different look to any pen. Joey Bart hits dingers and doubles! He'll fit right in when he makes it to the show, with homeruns being such a big part of the game today, as well as strikeouts.

  2. Tyler Rogers would have done better yesterday than Mark Melancon, maybe held the save for Johnny C

    1. I'd say he might have done better. No guarantees in this business.

  3. i think we will see tyler rogers up with the giants in august with the playoffs becoming less and less likely and a selloff being a possibility

  4. Howard hit FanGraphs' Top-10 Giant's prospects. And 2080 baseball rates him as a 50FV prospect. I don't think anyone thinks that of Hinojosa though John Sickles rates both as C+ prospects.

    1. I had Howard at #9 on my midseason list and did not rank Hinojosa. I'm just wondering if I might have shortchanged CJ.

  5. Mikey Edie @ 21 (20 S-K league age, -1.0 AgeDif although that may become -0.8): Has he figured it out, at least hitting for average?
You called him "5-tool" years ago, has he lost a tool since? He hasn't shown much power, and he's upside-down stealing this year but can he learn how to steal?
    He's playing CF -- is he a + defender?
Given that AllEverything 18-yo Heliot is playing CF in Augusta, does that block Mikey?
You mentioned his moving up your prospect list -- he fell off everything and only an HM last year -- how "high" now?
