Game Wrap 4/5/2011: Padres 3 Giants 1

The Giants road trip from Hell continued and Petco Park continued to be a House of Horrors for the Giants as their record to open their defense of the World Series Championship fell to 1-4. Key Lines:

Andres Torres- 2 for 4, SB(1). Torres did his leadoff job to perfection in the first inning, but struck out with runners on first and third, no outs in the pivotal third inning.

Brandon Belt- 0 for 4, GIDP. BA= .118. An impressive young player, but does he need some more seasoning in Fresno?

Madison Bumgarner- 3 IP, 5 H, 3 R, 3 BB, 2 k's. Bum seemed to have good stuff, but had some calls go against him, some bloop hits fall in and just couldn't weather the storm.

Guillermo Mota- 3 IP, 2 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 3 K's. ERA= 0.00. An impressive long relief job by Mota today. I'm guessing he punched Runzler's ticket to Fresno with this performance.

Tim Lincecum takes the mound tomorrow afternoon against Tim Stauffer who pretty much resurrected his career against the Giants last year.

  1. they are 1-4, or are you already counting tomorrow as a loss

the torture is definitely back, and the giants put lots of guys on base...and there wasnt a clutch hit to be found

the ump definitely got into madbum's head...

dont think runzler is going anywhere, as it seems that casilla's issues are due to some shoulder inflamation and he may be headed to the dl

if they do send runzler down, it will be to bring up kroon (i hope)

peguero and crawford are both out for at least a month

they have gotta wake up at the plate and on d...they all look like they are moving in slow motion

  2. Please don't take any knives or sharp instruments near the Giants MB.

It amazes me how everyone forgets how the Padres and Dodgers mauled the Giants early last year. I just as soon get the fumbles, hiccups and stutters out now so that the momentum will be there late in the season.

It is no secret that this team is built for the playoffs but getting there is another is going to take more effort this year. They still have so much time that it is probably boring.

After they get home to home cooking it will be a lot different. The Rings will change things.

Sure wish Timmy was pitching the home opener. I have no probllem at all with Jonathan, but Timmy is the Giants. When is the last time you looked at a picture or magazine symbolizing MLB that didn't have Timmy's mug on it? Lot of little leaguers growing long hair.

It is good to be a Giants fan...
