Game Wrap 4/11/2011: Dodgers 6 Giants 1

Different opponent, same score. The Giants put on a miserable show to lose badly in a game I think they could have won with some good baseball. Key lines:

Pat Burrell- 2 for 4, HR(4), 2 BB. BA= .222. Right now, Pat the Bat is about the only guy on the team putting up good AB's on a consistent basis and look at his BA! He also threw out Matt Kemp at 3B and also made an error in LF. You've got to take the good with the bad with Pat. He's on a pace to hit 64 HR's though.

Madison Bumgarner- 5 IP, 8 H, 5 R, 4 BB, 3 K's. ERA= 9.00. This line doesn't really do him justice. I thought Bum had good stuff and pitched well despite a tough zone from the ump and shoddy fielding behind him until things fell apart in the 5'th.

Clayton Kershaw(Dodgers)- 6.2 IP, 6 H, 0 R, 2 BB, 7 K's. ERA= 1.37. Kershaw was not as sharp in this one as he was on Opening Day. Giants hitters failed to sustain any kind of rally despite several opportunities. On the other hand, Kershaw has reached the point where he is an elite starter who will still probably beat you when he's having an off night.

Maybe I'm deluded, but with a little D, a little more evenhandedness from the ump and a timely hit or two and the Giants could have won this in one of their one run nail biters instead of the game being over by the 6'th inning.

The Giants record drops to 4-6 in last place in the NL West, 3.5 games behind the Colorado Rockies who won another 1 run game over the Mess 7-6. The Dodgers improved to 6-4 to remain 1.5 games behind the Rockies. I'll say this: last year you knew the Padres would eventually come back to the pack. This year, if the Rockies build up a lead, they ain't coming back!

Tim Lincecum tries to play Stopper tonight against Chad Billingsley. Hopefully there are no celebrations, ceremonies or appeals planned for tonight or for awhile. Time to focus on baseball!

  1. This game needs to be reviewed and investigated by the MLB.

  2. they keep showing why there is a need for instant replay

and also why the entire umpire review team needs revamping

madbum ended up getting hit, because he was forced to elevate his pitches and hit more of the plate

and i dont know how much longer the team can use this defensive alignment

9 errors leads the majors...but they could easily have 15
