The Giants were dominated by a journeyman pitcher in a game that should have been an embarrassment for the entire team. Key lines:
Aaron Rowand- 2 for 4. BA= .296. Gamer is about the only player in the lineup hitting right now.
Cody Ross- 1 for 3. BA= .207. Ross had a really bad game running into Aaron Rowand on a ball Rowand had caught in the gap, knocking it out of Rowand's glove giving Wilson Ramos a double and setting up a 2 run HR by Laynce Nix. Later, Ross hit a ball down the 3b line that took a perfect carom to Nix in LF who calmly threw him out by a mile at 2B. That one was probably just bad luck of the bounce. Gotta assume you can take 2B on a ball like that.
Tim Lincecum- 7 IP, 7 H, 3 R, 0 BB, 7 K's. ERA= 2.90. Timmy's FB ranged from 93-97 MPH, but his secondary stuff was not sharp. The Nats got some breaks and, well, I guess velocity isn't everything. Still, gotta think Timmy's going to put it all together and have an epic season with that kind of velocity.
Jason Marquis(Nats)- 9 IP, 5 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 7 K's. ERA= 2.62. Marquis is the type of pitcher who tends to give the Giants fits. Tonight, he had the sinker going and had great movement on it. Still, the Giants should be able to put together a better offense than that against a guy who is just trying to pitch to contact. Embarrassing!
The Giants fall below .500 again at 12-13. Will update the standings after the Rockies and Dodgers games come in, but not sure it matters at this point. The Giants have to put together some wins!
