Three injured Giants returned to the lineup and Coors Field was just what some Giants bats needed to get well as the Giants pummeled the Rockies. Key Lines:
Lamonte Wade Jr 1B- 3 for 3, 2B, 3 BB. BA= .285. OBP= .429. My goodness! Is there a hotter hitter in all of baseball right now? He went into this game with the 6'th highest fWAR of all 1B in MLB at 1.6 with Pete Alonso and Ryan Noda tied at 1.7. I'll have to check Fangraphs tomorrow AM. LMWJ might be #4 after reaching base 6 times in 6 PA's.
Thairo Estrada 2B- 3 for 5, 2 2B, BB. BA= .308. Thairo was looking a bit tired before going on the IL. Maybe he just needed so R&R to regroup? He and LMWJ combined for 6 hits, 3 doubles and 4 walks reaching base 10 out of 12 PA's out of the leadoff and #2 slots on the lineup.
Patrick Bailey C- 3 for 5, 2 2B, 3B. BA= .309. I was starting to have my doubts about Bailey sustaining his hot start. Coors Field was what he needed to break out of a mini-slump as he played pepper with the OF wall. There may still be room for Joey Bart to be the short end of a L-R platoon with Bailey but Bailey tightened his grip on the strong side.
Giants hit 8 doubles which I think tied some sort of record plus a triple out of 14 hits. They also drew 11 walks. Every starter in the lineup had at least one hit except YtY and he drew two walks.
Speaking of YtY, he and Austin Slater had a scary collision in R-CF on a ball hit into the gap. They both looked a bit shaken up but both stayed in the game to the end. Hey! That could have been the break Luis Matos needed!
Sean Manaea LHP- 4.2 IP, 5 H, 4 R, 1 BB, 5 K's. ERA= 6.10. It was a bullpen game and Manaea was the bulk innings guy after John Brebbia RHP and Ryan Walker RHP opened the game with a scoreless inning each. Manaea looked pretty good for 4 innings but faltered in his 5'th inning of work. Hey! Gotta remember this was Coors Field and this was his longest appearance since May 5.
The Win gets the Giants back to .500 and 5.5 games behind the D'Backs in the NL West(that's right, the Dodgers are in second place). The Giants are just 2 games off the Wild Card pace with the Dodgers, Marlins and Pirates ahead of them.
Logan Webb RHP tries to clinch a series win tomorrow evening against Connor Seabold RHP.
Churn Watch: Brett Wisely UT and Bryce Johnson OF were optioned to AAA Sacramento to make room on the active roster for Joc Pederson OF and Estrada. Matt Beaty 1B/DH/OF, memba him? He cleared waivers from a previous transaction and elected free agency.
Dr. B, you were an advocate of Bart coming into the season. Has your perspective changed with the emergency of Bailey?

I am still bullish on Bart in the long run but starting to think his success may not come with the Giants. At minimum, Patrick Bailey has grabbed the strong side catcher platoon role. I would like to see him come back and start against LHP's and try to build some trade value that way.
