AAA: Tacoma Rainiers defeated the Sacramento River Cats 4-1.
Keaton Winn RHP- 4 IP, 2 H, 1 R, 0 ER, 2 BB, 6 K's. ERA= 4.35.
Chris Wright LHP- 1.1 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 2 BB, 2 K's. ERA= 4.41.
Erik Miller LHP- 1.2 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 2 BB, 5 K's. ERA= 2.30.
Keaton Winn's pitching line over his last 3 starts: 0-0, 0.75, 12 IP, 5 BB, 18 K's. I believe he is on the 40-man roster. Cats managed just 3 hits.
AA: Erie Seawolves grounded the Richmond Flying Squirrels 6-1.
Ryan Murphy RHP- 4 IP, 4 H, 1 R, 0 BB, 3 K's. ERA= 5.73.
Squirrels managed just 2 hits. Rough day at the plate for the Giants farm system.
A+: Vancouver Canadians beat the Eugene Emeralds 7-3.
Grant McCray CF- 2 for 4, 3B, HR(8). BA= .236.
Carter Howell LF- 2 for 3, BB. BA= .458.
Seth Lonsway LHP- 2.2 IP, 2 H, 0 R, 2 BB, 5 K's. ERA= 6.82.
The first two batters in the lineup, McCray and Howell had 4 of the Ems 5 hits. At least those two are probably the top two position prospects on the team right now.
A: Fresno Grizzlies mauled the San Jose Giants 7-2.
Turner Hill RF- 2 for 5, BB, SB(2). BA= .363.
Hayden Wynja LHP- 4 IP, 3 H, 5 R, 1 ER, 0 BB, 3 K's, GO/AO= 7/4. ERA= 4.20.
Sean Newcomb LHP- 1 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 2 K's. ERA= 0.00.
Nomar Medina LHP- 4 IP, 5 H, 2 R, 1 BB, 4 K's. ERA= 4.18.
A Sean Newcomb sighting! Memba him? Former first round draft pick of the Angels(#15 overall). Traded to the Braves where he looked like an emerging star then his career got derailed by injuries. Can he be another successful Giants reclamation project?
Susan Shusser mentioned a few weeks ago that Keaton Winn is a pitcher they're looking to callup in the 2nd half along with Harrison. Heard Will Clark on the KNBR Murph and Mac podcast this morning remembering his 1st big league manager Roger Craig, great listen. Also brought up that he just went to see Richmond play and brought up 3 players on that team who will be future major leaguers in his view: 1 Vaun Brown (OF)-he called him an explosive player. He's had procedures done on both knees. Giants being careful with him to stay healthy. 2 Randy Rodriguez (RP) throws mid to high 90's fastball. 3. Landon Roupp (SP)-throws major league curve ball and mid 90's fastball. Clark said he made some hitters look stupid. Ok I'm excited about the minor league system. Maybe you need to bring me down to earth Doc,
ReplyDeleteIt's not the greatest farm system in history but much stronger than it's been in many years and quite deep. So I think your excitement is appropriate. Lots of very interesting and intriguing players to follow.
DeleteSpeaking of prospects, any word on Bednar? He doesn't seem to have played at all this year, after a disappointing pro debut last year. Perhaps his arm was blown out by the college world series. I sure hope he can pull through whatever it is.
DeleteTwitter post that Bednar is assigned to complex league on a rehab assignment.
