Multi-hit game with a HR for Crawford is the big news here.  Maybe a true 2-way player after all?  Enormous power potential if he can make enough contact.

  1. It seems like a long dry spell for Luciano. I wonder if his back ever really healed.

  2. Report from Visalia - Reggie Crawford hit a 2-run homerun to the opposite field to tie the game in the 6th inning. It was a line drive shot. You could hear the celebration in the Giants dugout when Reggie came in from hitting the homerun, as it was his first professional homerun. He drove in a third run in the 9th with a seeing-eye single. The runner at 2nd was moving toward third, causing the 3rd baseman to move back toward the bag and Reggie hit the ball right where the 3rd baseman had been. Reggie seems to have a lot of swing and miss at the plate as a batter, but when he connects, it can go out quickly. In speaking with a Giants staff member, he said that Reggie is going to be concentrating on his pitching. I mentioned the 2 homeruns he gave up on Tuesday, and he said that Reggie was "checking boxes" and felt some pressure being on a pitch count.
Another highlight of the game was P.J. Hilson's throwing arm. In one inning a Rawhide batter hit a double to right and Hilson threw a strike to third base on a fly, to keep the runner at second. We were commenting on how strong a throw it was. The next batter hit a single to right and P.J. threw a strike to home plate on the fly to get the runner, who had been on second. We wondered why the 3rd base coach even tried to send the runner home after just seeing his strong throw to third base. Hilson has some good tools: a major-league arm and speed. If he can just get his hit tool together.
The Little Giants seem to be following the organizational playbook of working players at multiple positions. In these past 4 games there have been 3 different first basemen, Rodriguez has played both 3rd and short, Gavello has played both 2nd and 3rd. The Little Giants are a group of competent hitters, but none of them scream future major league talent. APGiantsfan
