As the Farm goes 4-0, such (potentially) good stuff coming excites all Giant fans – will there finally be a home grown outfielder included in the pipeline along with maybe a half dozen studs?
ReplyDeleteThis is the most exciting system since it produced stars from Matt Cain in 2005 to Joe Panik in 2014 that led to the 3 WS flags!
Bring it on!
this surely delusional, but looking at who's under contract next year & who's AA-AAA currently, could see letting FAs go away / retire and otherwise stand pat except existing signings and just go for Ohtani with every available penny
ReplyDeleteNot delusional but as exciting as Ohtani is, I am not convinced he's worth the price it will take to sign him.
DeleteOhtani would put fans-in-seats, and would be worth 5-6 WAR (pitching and batting) for some number of years.
DeleteProbably as useful (+/-) as Stanton, Harper, Judge, or Correa, and there's something about a 2-way player to boost both ends.
Yes, he would cost too much on the back end, and no, he probably won't sign as a Giant, but make an effort, SF, a big one, the long run always takes care of itself and there are young/cheap players coming: S-P-L-U-R-G-E!
They made serious serious runs at Harper, Judge and Correa so I am sure they will put up a very competitive at Ohtani.
DeleteIf Ohtani can fill the 10k empty seats p/gm at Oracle these days - and I think he's that big a draw - those extra 800k fans @ $50(?) each essentially means he pays for himself. That doesn't even include extra revenue for the team he generates from road games, and probable increase of broadcast deals.
ReplyDeleteAll that, and helps win ON the field in every way.
One of the very few players out there well worth the money.
Add up all the FA’s they signed this year that could be replaced next year in-house or cheap and its well over $100 million. Sign Ohtani and get rid of most of the veterans and go into 2024 with a near complete roster.

Bullpen is coming along fine and that lineup may not click until 2025 but that’s how you absorb the contract it will take to sign Ohtani
And who would not want an Ohtani Giant jersey?
